Dear UBBA Community,
As a member of the UBBA Board of Directors, and as a representative of LCRA, one of this year’s host utilities, I’m especially excited to welcome the utility community to Texas for the 2026 UBBA Summit & Plugfest, October 13–15 in Fort Worth.
Utilities are being asked to do more than ever: improve reliability and resilience, respond to unprecedented load growth, modernize grid operations, and prepare for a future that will be increasingly automated, connected and data driven. Meeting those demands requires more than new technology. It requires the right communications infrastructure, and strong collaboration across the utility industry.
That is what makes the UBBA Summit & Plugfest so valuable.
This is not simply a conference about networks or technology. It is a place where utility leaders can learn from other utilities, see operational use cases in action and have candid conversations about what is working, what isn’t and what comes next.
In Fort Worth, we’ll explore topics ranging from AMI 2.0, grid automation and AI to field operations, wildfire mitigation, resilience, private wireless and next-generation utility communications. Through Plugfest, attendees will also have the opportunity to move beyond presentations and see technologies tested against real utility operational requirements.
From LCRA’s perspective, we know firsthand how important communications have become to the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of the grid. We also know how valuable it is to have a forum where utilities can openly share lessons learned, compare approaches and help one another make better decisions.
That is why I encourage utilities to make the trip to Fort Worth and to bring colleagues from operations, T&D, engineering, metering, grid modernization, communications and other teams that need to be part of these conversations.
For UBBA utility members, I also encourage you to take full advantage of the complimentary registrations included with your membership. Put them to work and bring more of your team. UBBA is at its best when utilities are in the room, sharing experiences, challenging assumptions and helping shape what comes next for our industry.
Claim your registration, bring your team, and join us in Fort Worth.
LCRA looks forward to welcoming you to Texas.
