Welcome to the May edition of the UBBA Newsletter! As a UBBA Board Member, I’m excited to engage with you as we tackle the dynamic challenges facing the electric utility industry. From aging infrastructure and escalating cybersecurity risks to the urgent need for grid modernization, our sector demands forward-thinking solutions. Utility broadband networks and our innovative technology solutions members are at the forefront of this transformation, enabling critical operational use cases such as advanced metering, real-time grid monitoring, and enhanced outage management.

Private LTE networks offer utilities dedicated, secure, and reliable connectivity, ensuring full control over data and infrastructure—a must for mission-critical operations. Meanwhile, public cellular networks provide cost-effective, scalable options for less time-sensitive applications, leveraging existing infrastructure for rapid deployment. Both approaches empower utilities to optimize operations and enhance service reliability.
