Waste Management Employees Save Family
On January 5, while driving their Waste Management trash pick-up route in Baytown, Jonathan King, Earnest Gonzalez, and Marcus Williams noticed smoke coming from a house. Stopping their truck, they blew the horn to get the attention of the homeowner. When there was no response, they left the truck and began knocking on the door.

When the door was finally answered, the Waste Management crew found out there were 3 children and 1 adult in the home, who were unaware of the fire which was located in a different part of the home. Jonathan called 9-1-1 to report the fire, and then all 3 crew members helped to get everyone safely out of the house. Once everyone was safe, and emergency fire crews were on the scene, Jonathan, Earnest, and Marcus simply got back in their truck and continued on their route.

The City of Baytown Fire Department is pleased to present Jonathan, Earnest, and Marcus with an honorary life saving recognition for their quick thinking and action and for selflessly risking their safety to help others.
