Your Village @ Work - January 6, 2018
Looking Forward to 2018!
Foremost, all of us here in the Village, officials and employees alike, hope that all Village residents had an enjoyable holiday season.

We are poised to continue to build on the work that we already started and look forward to the opportunities that the new year will bring for our awesome city!

Palmetto Bay is kicking off 2018 with its regular Council meeting this Monday, January 8th, followed by two Town Hall meetings on January 10th and January 24th. During the first Town Hall, Mayor Flinn and Councilman Singer will discuss the Village's Strategic Plan, and at the January 24th meeting, the two Councilmembers will discuss the Village's I-Bus operations and possible improvements. Visit our website to view the agenda for the Council meeting and read the notices for the Town Halls.

Once again, we wish for a year of many blessings and wonderfulness for you, your family and your friends.
County Starts Drainage Improvements on SW 87th Avenue
The Miami-Dade County Department of Transportation & Public Works has notified the Village that starting in January they will break ground on a drainage improvement project for SW 87th Avenue. The exact project start date is not yet known, but the county anticipates to begin by mid-month and end in July.

Drainage improvements are planned for the area encompassing SW 87th Avenue from SW 68th Street to SW 174th Street. The improvements are expected to mitigate the flooding issues affecting the area. Crews will be building a storm drainage system that consists of exfiltration trenches and solid pipes with drainage inlets and manholes. See the project Fact Sheet.

County staff has advised that SW 87th Avenue will be closed from SW 168th Street to SW 174th Street, except for local traffic. Roadway work is scheduled to take place between the hours of 7:30 am to 5 pm, Monday through Friday, except holidays. Please note that traffic is being redirected to SW 87th Court, south of SW 168th Street according to the Maintenance of Traffic (MOT) information received from the county. See the MOT for traffic detours.

Palmetto Bay had planned a 90-day traffic redirection pilot program for the area west of SW 82nd Avenue and north of SW 168th Street, the area east of SW 77th Avenue and south of 152nd Street, and for the Malbrook neighborhood area. The pilot program has been postponed in light of the upcoming drainage improvement project. A new launch date will be determined and announced at a later time.

We would also like to remind residents that FDOT is also starting its roadway improvement project the week of January 16th along US 1. The project area expands from SW 184th Street to SW 168th Street. More information is available on our website.
