2026 APRIL

COMMANDERS NOTES

Our Post has changed the time for monthly meeting for the

Post and Auxiliary.

We will still have our Pot Luck, but at 5:30 p.m and the

Post meeting will start at 6:15

By the time you read this, we will have had the March meeting and elections. We will post the results on our web page ASAP.

I thank all the great volunteers who worked to make the NJCAA Tournament a success. I was proud to see all of you working cheerfully and competently. Also, thanks to all the volunteers who helped at the Scholarship Pancake Breakfast.

Memorial Day is coming up, and we will have the Riders and Color Guard participate again this year. Events will be at the South Hutchinson Veterans Memorial and at Memorial Park Cemetery.

ALA NOTES

MARCH MADNESSS IS UPON US!!

The NJCAA Tournament should be in progress or just getting over when you receive this newsletter. Hopefully you enjoyed some of the basketball games and the Annual Pancake feed at the American Legion on Thursday 3-26-2026.

The March monthly meeting has been rescheduled for March 30th at 5:30 PM covered dish dinner 6:15 PM meeting

March is also our nomination of Auxiliary Officers.  If you would like to be an officer please contact one of the Officers and let them know your wishes. Election is in April and instillation of Officers is June.

Easter is April 5th so enjoy having Easter Egg Hunts with your family and friends.  The 7th District Auxiliary is having their business meeting of the Convention for 7th District on April 11, 2026 at the American Legion Post in Hutchinson.  There were not enough officers at the Convention on March 21stto have a quorum so no business could be conducted. Please try to attend this meeting.

Please make sure you are checking on our shut-ins and those who are not attending the American Legion Family meals and meetings.  Make sure there isn’t a need we could be helping these friends and neighbors with like taking to store, Doctor Appointments or fix a broken front porch step.

Please thank all of our volunteer workers for their help at the meals, bingo, building repairs and yard work that is being done on a weekly basis.  Without these people our Post Home would not be as nice looking as it is.  Please give these people that step up and volunteer a pat on the back!!

If you want to volunteer to work a meal or to work Bingo please contact the Post at 620 662-0573, John Harlow 629 727-2433 or Edie Griffin at 620 694-9839.

Your 2026 dues are now being collected.  The dues are now $36.00 and may be paid to Vicki Tracy, 407 E 36th Ave, Hutchinson, KS 67502, or at the Legion Office or online at https://www.legion-aux.org.  We look forward to seeing you at our meetings.    God Bless the USA!

President Edie Griffin

SAL NOTES

Spring is here!!! As I am writing these notes, we are gearing up for another NJCAA tournament. I want to thank all of the volunteers that continue to make the tournament a success! The post has hosted this event for over 75 years! One last note, please make sure to pay your 2026 dues if you haven’t yet. Dues are $35, or $20 for dual and junior members.

ALR NOTES

Happy spring, Riders. If someone would like to plan a ride to eat, I think that would be great. Thanks for all the volunteers who helped with the tournament and pancake feed. Your help is greatly appreciated. There isn’t much happening in April except for the usual: funeral escorts and meals we serve at the post. Someone said, “only in Kansas can you have all 4 seasons in one week”. Sounds right to me. LET’S RIDE. If anyone needs help let your comrades know. Blessings!!

Respectfully,

Don (frosty) Sawyer

NJCAA NOTES

I would personally like to thank the Legion Post and all the volunteers who give their valuable time to put on the best National Tournament in the Country… I have not heard anything but rave reviews of what all of you do from our out of town guests.

Remember this also helps to fund our local post.

We will start planning the 2027 tournament in April through the whole year….
