Since casting the Honor Bell in 2016, we have rendered Bell Honors at over 1,100 funerals and 150 public and school events. Our activities would not be possible without our volunteers. Please join us to thank them and celebrate their service.
The Honor Bell is a 1,000-pound bronze bell cast with artifacts from Colorado’s military servicemen and women, and tolled exclusively by Colorado’s veterans at graveside and memorial services. Our volunteers have devoted countless hours to honoring their fellow service members, educating schoolchildren about the importance of military service, and joining the community in celebrating the memory of those who served.

The ambassador of the year this year is a 13-year-old girl named Taylor. She had brain cancer removed from her brain approximately 8 years ago and now it has suddenly spread to her jaw and she has had to have many reconstructive surgeries. She is very brave and she can use all of the support we can try to get!

Eyes On: Julie Buffalohead will showcase new work by the Minnesota-based artist, who is a citizen of the Ponca Tribe of Oklahoma. Buffalohead uses metaphors, iconography, and storytelling narratives in her artwork to describe emotional and subversive American Indian cultural experiences, and often analyzes the commercialization of American Indian cultures.
Buffalohead frequently includes animals as subjects, and her eclectic palette and whimsical subjects evoke a childlike innocence. While she works in a variety of mediums, including painting, printmaking, drawing, illustration, bookmaking, and sculpture, this exhibition will feature a new series of works on canvas that explore her own life experiences, as well as ancestral knowledge.

Thru May 19 | 10:00 am - 6 pm | Denver Art Museum | Gen. Adm.

It includes visitor favorites such as a four-faced Hamat'sa Mask, Deborah Butterfield’s horse sculptures, artworks by Frederic Remington and Georgia O’Keeffe, as well as rarely seen works.

Makeshift Shakespeare pays homage to the Bard himself! The absurdity of Shakespeare’s comedies, the misfortune of his tragedies, and the yesteryears of his histories are all performed in a nightly original production by these brainy improvisers. Denver has never seen anything quite like it! “All-male, all-Shakespeare, all the time,” says director Shannon Wood Rothenberg. Theater-goers will find their intellects heartily entertained and their wit vigorously stimulated by the unlimited possibilities of improvisation coupled with the richness of William Shakespeare’s legacy.

Dave Attell is the creator and host of Dave’s Old Porn on Showtime, which has featured such talent as Whitney Cummings, Chelsea Handler, Adam Carolla and Daniel Tosh. His stand-up series, Dave Attell’s Comedy Underground and his one hour special, Road Work were featured on Comedy Central and Road Work is streaming on Netflix now!
He was named one of the “25 Funniest People in America” by Entertainment Weekly Magazine. His caustic wit, rapid-fire delivery and his choice of material that can best be described as "very adult" has earned him the reputation as a "comic's comic." But if you ask Attell, he’d say, "I’m just trying to get some laughs and sell some drinks.”
Attell used this love of booze and laughter to create and host the hit series, Insomniac with Dave Attell for Comedy Central. A travelogue show in which Attell goes from city to city looking for late-night fun, The New York Times called the show, "a doubly rare beast, a comedy without rancor and a travel show about the virtues of the American underdog."
Dave Attell has made numerous appearances on The Late Show with David Letterman, The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, Late Night with Conan O'Brien, The Howard Stern Show, Last Call with Carson Daly and The Daily Show with Jon Stewart. He also appeared in Chris Rock’s cult film Pootie Tang. Other television credits include FOX's Arrested Development, NBC's Ed, HBO, Comedy Central’s Tough Crowd with Colin Quinn and his own half-hour stand-up special Comedy Central Presents Dave Attell.

Oct 19 | 7:00 pm | Comedy Works
2018 has already been a great year for Al Jackson. His daily national talk show, Daily Blast Live, renewed for a second season and Al appeared on HBO’s 2Dope Queens. Al shot his 100th episode of his BBC show Officially Amazing.

Al brushed up on his acting chops shooting four episodes of Jim Jeffries show Legit on FX. He also has an hour special Baby Steps on NuVo and a half hour special on Comedy Central.
He appeared on Comedy Central’s This is Not Happening and toured with Ari Shaffir's Renamed Story Telling Show. Al has six appearances on Comedy Central’s @midnight, John Oliver’s New York Stand Up Special, and Dave Attell’s Comedy Underground.

Circo de Nada: a Cabaret is a trip into the imagination.
Improv, masks, red noses, and puppets! Poets, mendicants, mountebanks and fools! From the ridiculous to the sublime, these will be your guides down the rabbit-hole of your own mind. This is a theatre of experience, where there is no fourth wall, and anything can happen.
Drawing on the great traditions of Vaudeville, Circus, Cabaret, and the street arts of Commedia dell’Arte and Bouffon, the members of Circo de Nada (Shana Cordon and Nick Trotter) and a sneaky crew of guest artists will invade, inspire, infect and incite your imagination with poetry, wit and human folly.

Oct 20 | 7:00 pm | VooDoo Comedy Playhouse
A fascinating and funny mix of spot-on impressions and clever, cutting-edge comedy, Ian Harris’ act has landed him coveted appearances on Jimmy Kimmel LIVE!, Comedy Central, as well as TWO, one-hour TV specials “Critical & Thinking”” which AXS TV called “A truly masterful hour of wit, humor and derisive jabbing” and “ExtraOrdinary” of which Arizona Daily Sun said, “If extraordinary means extremely ordinary and incredible means anything but credible, neither of these are fit terms to describe the work of Ian Harris… You can expect anything but the sweeping under the rug of the idiocy of mankind.” His keen grasp of science, evidenced by his satirical, skeptical take on everything from religion to global warming-deniers and beyond. Though his cerebral and often risky style of comedy has earned him comparisons to favorite thinking-man’s comics like Lenny Bruce, Bill Maher and George Carlin, Ian uses his unique point of view and an impressive array of comedic talents to deliver a thought provoking style of stand-up all his own.

A day that brings clarity to your payroll gray areas
Payroll processing sounds like a simple proposition. Employees work at a certain rate of pay. You take out taxes and give them the rest of what they've earned. Unfortunately, regulations regarding special benefits and other payments turn a simple task into a legal landmine. With this payroll management training, you'll gain strategies to handle payroll accurately, legally and with complete confidence.

What you don't know can hurt you. That's never more true than when dealing with payroll law. The first step to complying with regulations is understanding them. You'll begin your day with a crash course in payroll's legal basics. Find out what areas fall under state, federal and joint regulation and learn how to avoid the often staggering penalties and fines of non-compliance.
In one intensive day of training, we'll cover today's most challenging payroll management issues including:
  • The latest regulation changes that impact how you process payroll
  • The red flags auditors look for in your payroll procedures
  • The ins and outs of new hire reporting — what's changed now?
  • Fringe benefits, bonuses, commissions back-pay — what's taxable today?
  • How to handle the sticky legalities of payment on termination
  • Your state law says one thing and the federal government says another — now what?
  • Ways to side-step the most common pitfalls of Wage and Hour laws
  • And much more!
With this payroll management training, you'll know which forms to use when and, most important, how to keep your company out of hot water with the DOL and state agencies. It's their job to catch you in a mistake. Together, we'll make sure that doesn't happen.

How to manage your time, stay organized, and get more done
If you're like most people, it happens often. Your ambitious plans were sacrificed to …
   •A bottomless in-box
•The constant stream of minor crises "only you can handle"
•Endless details, letters, phone calls, and interruptions that leave you wondering, "Will I ever get caught up?
Wonder no more. You can get caught up-and start getting ahead. You and your people will learn and master these essential skills:
•Setting priorities, so you focus on what's important
•Controlling your workday, so you move toward your objectives steadily and complete them on time
The payoffs are real and lasting.
You'll all get more done, and add more value within your organization. You'll feel less stressed and frazzled. And, best of all, you'll be able to get to the high-priority projects you never seem to have time for. It's no secret that successful people are those who have learned to control their days-instead of letting interruptions, paper chases and the phone control them.
This training will help you and your people...
•Identify what's important
•Anticipate problems and prevent bottlenecks
•Spot the hidden shortcuts in every project
•Resolve the conflict when other people's goals compete with yours
•Stop procrastinating — get started and get it done

WRTFF strives to engage its audience in deeper conversation about the role of cinema, and how films can relate to community, conscious living, and contribute to making the world a stronger and more unified place. This year, the festival features 25 short films divided into four different themed programs that explore topics ranging from gender and equality, to overcoming obstacles and remembering the little moments that make a life whole. For the first time in the festivals short history, the majority of films featured this year are directed by women, a fact that according to festival director, Michael Harrington, was “not intentional but a wonderful surprise once the final films were chosen.” Each film is chosen based on its merit of telling a powerful story, then programmed with films that, together, are an integral part of a larger story, represented in the theme of the program. Wandering Reel was not only conceived as a way to give a longer life to important short films, but a way to bring communities together through a shared experience, in this case, the shared experience of cinema. For this reason, Michael Harrington leads a Q&A discussion after each screening to deepen the experience and provide information about how and why the films were made. “Short films don’t necessarily answer all the questions for the viewer and often times are made to inspire questions,” says Harrington. “I’m more of a facilitator of these conversations. The best screenings always end with me learning something from the audience about the films we just watched, not just the other way around.”

The man himself Richard Smith at the Denver Music Institute. Come for the concert, or the workshop, or both! Joining him for a couple songs will be Denver Music Institutes own guitar heroes Aaron Walker and Ashton Lee Smith. Workshop $50, 2 pm, at the Denver Music Institute Concert $20 advance, $25 at door, 7:30 pm at the Denver Music Institute BIOGRAPHY From Bach to Beatles and barn-burners to ballads Audiences delight, when world-renowned fingerstyle guitarist Richard Smith cuts loose Having witnessed one of his live performances, fellow musicians and music lovers alike sing hymns of praise about world-renowned fingerstyle guitarist Richard Smith. With fretboard fireworks and lyrical endeavours he will melt your heartstrings, make your toes tapping and your jaws hanging open. Richard's ever growing repertoire comprises a wide variety of music from classical Bach to Beatles pop. It includes Scott Joplin Rags just like Sousa marches, Chopin, Mozart and fiddle tunes. It ranges from jazz standards to Chet Atkins and Jerry Reed and to Django Reinhardt gypsy swing, not to mention his intriguing originals. He delivers both, lightning fast barn-burners and beautiful ballads, occasionally spiced with vocals. His incredible stylistic wealth is founded in a lifelong love for music. Born in Beckenham, Kent, England in 1971, Richard started playing guitar at age 5 under the instruction of his father. Concentrating initially on the country picking of Chet Atkins and Merle Travis, young Richard digested everything he heard, learning even the most complicated of these tunes with ease, and confounding everyone with his dexterity. It seemed that not only did he possess amazing physical skill, but a photographic musical memory as well. Often, a single hearing was all it took to get a piece under his fingers, using all ten to play bass, rhythm and melody simultaneously and creating a universe of sounds, while easily switching between thumbpicking and flatpicking like hardly anybody else. Richard first met his hero, the Godfather of fingerstyle guitar, Chet Atkins, when he was only eleven. Richard was invited by Chet to share the stage with him at Her Majestys Theatre in London in front of an audience of 1,000. At first, the master accompanied him, but later on he just listened in stunned silence while the child played Chets own arrangements perfectly. By the time Richard reached his early twenties, both Chet Atkins and Jerry Reed began to refer to him as their Hero. It's no surprise, that the hymns of praise subsequently never faded. Now residing in Nashville, Richard has toured the world as a solo artist, teaming up with his wife Julie Adams for a unique guitar and cello duo, performing with his brothers Rob and Sam as the Richard Smith Guitar Trio and with his swing band, The Hot Club of Nashville, featuring Stuart Duncan on fiddle, Pat Bergeson on guitar and Charlie Chadwick on bass. Fellow guitar wizard Tommy Emmanuel prefers Richard Smith as one of his favourite duet partners. In 2001, Richard became the National Fingerstyle Guitar Champion in Winfield, Kansas. He was elected Thumbpicker of the Year in 2008 and inducted into the National Thumbpickers Hall of Fame in Kentucky in 2009. He is also a recipient of the Golden Thumbpick Award by the Association of Fingerstyle Guitarists in California. Richard has been a mainstay at the Chet Atkins Appreciation Society Convention in Nashville since 1991, where he has played with many world renowned artists including Nato Lima of Los Indios Tabajaras, sax legend Boots Randolph and John Jorgenson of Desert Rose Band and Elton John Band fame.

In “The Kentucky Cycle,” a series of nine short plays, Robert Schenkkan has created a mesmerizing epic of the Cumberland Plateau and an unblinking look at the truth behind our American mythology. Spanning two centuries, from 1775 to 1975, this is the story of three families – Black, White, and Native American - whose lives are irrevocably intertwined. Fast-paced and finely drawn, Schenkkan’s stunning, two-part play examines an American past which have created, for better or worse, the country we are today.

Oct 20 | 10:15 am |Colo Springs | 3 Mile
The final portions of the Dixon Trail are being completed in Cheyenne Mountain State Park in Colorado Springs and all things are looking good for the first race on October 20th to the top of Cheyenne Mountain and back down. The trail race will provide runners with a new challenging race that will be about 13.6 miles in length with about 2,750 feet of elevation gain and loss and a top elevation of just over 8,800 feet. It is an out and back course with the terrain and elevation gain increasing as the course makes its way up the south flank to a turnaround near the top of the south peak of Cheyenne Mountain.
Our race was previously announced to be about a half a marathon in length. We have added additional distance on the Dixon section of the race so that we can include more of the top of the mountain and more easily get supplies to the aid station at the turnaround.
The race will start at the Limekiln parking lot west of the entrance to the state park and entrance fee gate. The race course heads west on the Talon Trail, turns onto North Talon and at about 3.3 miles onto the Dixon Trail. The Dixon Trail continues for about 3.5 miles on a single track and gains about 2,000 feet of elevation on the way to the turnaround. The upper portions of the Dixon Trail are the most difficult and the trail has steep and rocky sections. The total uphill distance is about 6.8 miles. The downhill portion of the race returns on the same course to the Limekiln Trailhead start and finish line.

GUIDED PRIVATE TOURS

ASPIRE TOURS' DENVER RINO CRAFT BREWERY TOUR
In no other neighborhood is the Denver craft beer culture more visible than in the    River North Art District (RiNo) . Located just north of downtown, RiNo has transformed from an industrial landscape into one of the hippest spots in Denver, featuring art galleries, innovative businesses and a variety of craft breweries.    Aspire Tours    highlights a few of the microbreweries that stand out for innovation, quality and their unique perspective on craft beer, including   Epic Brewing Company    and    Black Shirt Brewing Co  .

Rock Bottom Brewery
Today, Rock Bottom Brewery is a major chain with more than 30 breweries that produce 700 different craft beers that have won over 125 medals. But their brewery in Denver is the "mother ship," the first brewery of the chain when it opened in 1990. Rock Bottom has one of the best locations on the 16th Street Mall, Denver's mile-long pedestrian promenade. There are 41 outdoor patios along the Mall, but the one at Rock Bottom is the largest and one of the most popular. On summer weekends, bands play and hundreds of people gather to sip craft beer on the patio under twinkling lights, as horse-drawn carriages clatter by. The interior of the massive bar is built around towering glass windows displaying the brewing equipment. It can be noisy, crowded and fun, as the bar brings in an attractive crowd of young downtown office workers. For a quieter experience, head to the back bar, which has pool tables and a staff that's both knowledgeable and passionate about craft beer. Rock Bottom features the standard IPAs, Red Ale, White Ale, Dark Ale and a Winter Tartan Ale, as well as the always popular Molly's Titanic Brown Ale. The brewmaster at each pub creates specials, so check what's on the current beer list, and especially look for the hand-pulled cask-conditioned ales in the back room.

ETUK Drink RINO Craft Brewery Crawl
RiNo is known for its many art studios and galleries, but the neighborhood is also at the heart of Denver's craft beer scene. Hop in one of   Th eTuk Ride's     Denver-built, zero-emission vehicles for an eco-friendly ride to one of the many independent craft adult beverage producers dedicated to promoting and celebrating the independent and wild spirit of RiNo known as  Drink RiNo . Want a peek behind the scenes? Upgrade to a Premium Experience and you'll get to tour the brewing facility in addition to the tastings and the opportunity for unique take home treats. A local craft beer connoisseur will join you along the way with details about the local breweries and beers.

Denver Beer Company
Denver Beer Company     is one of the city's favorite tap rooms — a place that really captures the laid-back feeling of The Mile High City. Located in a former auto garage, on warm days the "walls" of the pub literally roll up, making the whole building open air. There's an outdoor patio with picnic tables next to a space where different food trucks park every day.

Ale House at Amato's
After crossing the bridge, you've entered LoHi, one of Denver's hippest and fastest-growing neighborhoods.    Ale House at Amato's    is a great introduction to this section of town. Although no beer is brewed here, the restaurant is owned jointly by Wynkoop and Breckenridge breweries and features 40-plus craft beers on tap, including several rare and hard-to-find Colorado microbrews. The staff is beer savvy and will work with you to find the perfect selection, whether it's light, hoppy, malty or complex (and your beer, of course, will be poured into the appropriate style of glass). The entire roof of the bar is an open-air beer garden with outdoor fireplaces and sweeping views of Downtown Denver. It's especially pretty at twilight when the sun sets over the visible Rocky Mountains to the west.

Prost Brewing
As you would suspect, with a name like  Prost , this brewery specializes in traditional German beers, and they do everything traditionally, from serving the beer in appropriate German beer glasses to making it in authentic 72.5-barrel copper kettles from Germany. The kettles were made in 1963 and used until a few years ago by a 350-year-old brewery in Germany. When that brewery went out of business, the kettles were purchased and lovingly shipped to Denver, where they continue to make Weißbier (a Bavarian Hefeweizen), Altfränkisches Dunkel Bier (a dark amber lager) and Marzen (an Oktoberfest brew). The flagship beer is Prost Pils, a crisp, pale and well-hopped, gold-colored brew capped with a dense white collar of foam. It's served in a tapered glass with a gold rim that will have you crying, "Prost!" The Prost beer hall is decorated with authentic antique German beer signs and blue-and-white-check Oktoberfest bunting and is filled with long communal tables. Have a liter of beer, bite into an authentic German pretzel and meet new friends in this LoHi neighborhood tap room.

Mile High Tap Tours
Sit back as a 12-passenger van drives you and your friends along South Broadway and Santa Fe Drive on a four-hour tour to three breweries. Mile High Tap Tours currently partners with     Breckenridge Brewery , The Brew on Broadway, Saint Patrick's Brewing Company, Dead Hippie Brewing, Locavore Beer Works and 38 State Brewing Company.

Avanti F & B
If all this walking has worked up an appetite, end your night with dinner (and another beer) at  Avanti F & B , one of Denver's most popular new spots for foodies. Inspired by European markets and food-truck roundups, Avanti bills itself as a modern-day food hall, offering up seven different restaurant concepts under one roof. Grab a mushroom pizza at Brava! Pizzeria, a noodle bowl from MiJo or a chicken meatball torta at Poco Torteria. There are also two large bars — one upstairs and one downstairs — with twenty draft beers on tap, many from local breweries like Prost Brewing, Platt Park Brewing, Crooked Stave and Ratio Beerworks.

Breckenridge Brewery
Take a tour of the bucolic new    Breckenridge Brewery    facility in    Littleton   . You'll walk through the whole brewing process and see from start to finish how Breck Brew gets the beer to your bottle. Everything from the 100-barrel brewhouse, to the fermentation hall, to the bottling line...and all with a complimentary beer in your hand! You'll taste and talk about the company's different beers and how they're made. Tours cost $3 and begin and end in the tasting room. We recommend grabbing a meal at the excellent    Farm House Restaurant    while you're there.

New Belgium Brewing Company
New Belgium Brewing Company       in Fort Collins       is one of Colorado's first microbrewery success stories. Since its founding in 1991, New Belgium — best known for its iconic Fat Tire Amber Ale — has grown into one of the biggest microbreweries in the world, producing more than 400,000 barrels of beer annually.

Avery Brewing Company
One of Boulder's most beloved brewers,    Avery Brewing Company    is rapidly making headway on the national beer scene. Last year the company moved into a new $27 million "dream brewery" in north Boulder, upping both their brewing capacity and tap room seating.

Boulder Beer Company
Boulder Beer Company, Colorado's first craft brewery, is beloved by beer connoisseurs for its Hazed Hoppy Session Ale and by environmentalists for its eco-friendly ethos.

Visit the home of Budweiser at the Anheuser-Busch Brewery in Fort Collins and discover how the "King of Beers" crafts its world-famous brews.

Upslope Brewing Company
Boulder's Upslope Brewing taps into Colorado's active lifestyle by offering superior-quality handcrafted ales in cans for the on-the-go beer enthusiast. The brewery has won raves for its IPA and Brown Ale, but we also love their creative limited-release brews, like the Blood Orange Saison and the Thai Style White IPA.
Tour Info: Upslope offers tours at both locations. Flatiron Park Tap Room: Thurs., Sat. and Sun. at 3 p.m., Lee Hill Tap Room: Fri. and Sat. at 4 p.m.

Oskar Blues Brewery
Oskar Blues kicked off the canned craft beer revolution in 2002 with their Dale's Pale Ale. Why cans instead of bottles? For one thing, cans keep beer fresh by protecting it from light and oxygen. Drop into either the brewery's Homemade Liquids and Solids restaurant/brewery/music venue (home of the aforementioned oversized beer can) or the nearby Tasty Weasel brewing facility for a Dale's or an Old Chub Scotch Ale.
Tour Info: The Tasty Weasel offers free tours Mon.–Fri. at 4 p.m. and Sat.–Sun. at 2 p.m., 3 p.m., 4 p.m. and 5 p.m.

Left Hand Brewing CO.
Located on the banks of Longmont St. Vrain River, the patio is perfect for relaxation and beer appreciation. Since its founding in 1993, Left Hand's brews, including its iconic Milk Stout and Sawtooth Ale, have wowed beer connoisseurs, racking up dozens of medals at events like the Great American Beer Festival, the United States Beer Tasting Championships, the Brussels Beer Challenge, the World Beer Cup, the International Stockholm Beer & Whiskey Festival and more.
Budweiser Clydesdales and sample a cold one in the Hospitality Room.

With more than 25 years of brewing experience under its belt, Odell brews everything from handcrafted classics to small-batch beers that please even the snootiest of beer snobs. Be sure to try Odell's 90 Shilling Ale and the Cutthroat Porter, then sample from a rotating line of experimental brews, many of which are available exclusively in the Tap Room.
Tour Info: Daily at 12 p.m., 1 p.m., 2 p.m. and 3 p.m. Tours last about 30 minutes and can be reserved in advance.

Fort Collins Brewery
Just steps from the Cache Le Poudre River, Fort Collins Brewery turns out favorites like Far Away IPA, Major Tom's Pomegranate Wheat and Shot Down Chocolate Stout. This local gem isn't quite as big as Odell and New Belgium — not yet anyway!
Tour Info   :    Every Sat. at 12 p.m., 1 p.m., 2 p.m., 3 p.m. and 4 p.m. and Mon.–Fri. by appointment (970-682-2260)
