AN OPPORTUNITY TO HELP YOUR FELLOW PARISHIONER

From Roberta Anderson

Jeff’s surgery was on Monday, they removed the part of his duodenum that has the large polyp and resect it. Very big surgery, we will be in Birmingham for 5-10 days. Prayers appreciated!

A couple other things:

1. Becca and family are still living at our house as their house is being rebuilt after the house fire. It is nearing completion, when they move back they will need a lot of kitchen items. If any Daughters or parishioners can help with some gift cards to Wal-Mart or Target for kitchen restocking that would be so helpful.

2. And one other thing.  Next week while we are at UAB they will need some childcare on a couple days from 10:30-2:30 at our house, if any of the Daughters have some time or know of someone who might be able to that.   Thank you so much!

Gift cards will be collected in the church office. If you have any questions, please contact Sondra Gerber. ibagrammy@gmail.com

VESTRY MINUTES

Beginning this week, Vestry meeting minutes will be distributed after each monthly meeting. To ensure they have been officially approved, the minutes shared will always be from the previous month's meeting.

LESSONS AND CAROLS KICKOFF

Sunday, August 9, after the 10am service

The St. Matthew’s Choir welcomes all interested singers to join us on Sunday, August 9, 2026, for our annual Lessons and Carols kickoff event. The invitation is extended to senior-high students and senior citizens alike, plus all ages in-between. And you don’t have to be able to read music to participate (it’s helpful, but not a requirement).

The event begins in Gruman Parish Hall, immediately after the conclusion of the 10:00 AM worship service. Choir members will bring finger foods to share, so you won’t have to skip lunch. Then we’ll move into the Nave, where we will distribute folders of sheet music, and listen to available recordings of the Carols for this year’s program. [Who knows; we may even sing a bit!]

We should be finished with everything by 2:30 PM.

Beyond this introductory event, rehearsals of Lessons and Carols music will be held each Wednesday evening from 6:30 to 7:00, with additional Sunday-afternoon parts rehearsals available once a month in September, October and November. It’s an ideal, low-impact, limited-commitment way to sing with

the St. Matthew’s Choir.

Please email the Music Director musicdir@stmatthewsmadison.org for

additional details, or just to let TOM know you’re interested. I hope to see you there on August 9 th .

KAIROS PRISON MINISTRY VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITY

Tuesday, August 18, 5:30 PM to 6:00 PM

St. Matthew’s is hosting the upcoming training meeting for the Limestone Correctional Facility Kairos Prison Ministry. We will be serving dinner to approximately 50 volunteers.

This is a wonderful opportunity to answer Christ's call to "visit the prisoner" by showing hospitality to those in ministry. If you would like to help prepare, serve, or clean up, please let us know.
