|
November 18
Brian Furey and Amy Ravis Furey announce the Bat Mitzvah of their daughter, Emma Clair Furey on November 18.
Emma is the granddaughter of Diane Ravis and Michael Ravis (of blessed memory); Glynis Furey (of blessed memory); and Richard and Pat Furey of Spring Lake, New Jersey. Emma has a brother, Michael Furey, age 15.
Emma is a 7th grade student at Prairie Star Middle School where she runs on the cross-country team. Emma participates in competitive gymnastics and loves spending summers at Camp Sabra. For her mitzvah project, Emma collected pet food for the Jewish Family Services food pantry, one of the few in the area that offers pet food so families in need can adequately care for their pets or their pets.

Introducing Our New Music Director,
Laura Payne!

We are overjoyed to announce that Laura Payne has accepted the settled position of Music Director. Laura has been providing music here at B’nai Jehudah for over ten years. She graduated from the University of Kansas with a fine arts degree in Opera and Musical Theatre and has been singing professionally for more than 25 years. She has had the incredible opportunity to regularly sing and pray with every age group and enjoys creating meaningful and connected experiences for all. Laura began teaching early childhood music at B’nai Jehudah 10 years ago, which expanded to leading early childhood music for much of the Kansas City Jewish community.
Laura has also spent many years as the music specialist for B’nai Jehudah’s Religious School and Machane Jehudah summer camp, as well as singing for Shabbat services, High Holy Day services, and other holiday and life cycle events. Adopt a University Academy Family
University Academy is a Pre-Kindergarten through 12th-grade college-preparatory charter public school located at B'nai Jehudah's old home at 69th & Holmes. Last year, the Temple adopted ten families from University Academy and we hope to exceed that number this year. We are asking a group of people (havurot, multi-generational families, friends) to adopt an entire family unit. Each adopted family unit consists of 2-4 children and 1-2 adults. Each adopted household member will receive at least one gift (minimum value of $50). In addition, we request that your group purchase at least one item from their household needs list.
I want to Adopt a University Academy Family.
You will receive your adopted family's profile and holiday wish list by email on Monday, November 13. All gifts need to be wrapped and delivered to the Temple no later than Sunday, December 10.

Lives Saved and Funds Raised!
Forty-two (42) people came to our drive on Sunday, October 29. We collected 34 pints of blood. At $50 each, that came to $1,700. Our anonymous donor decided that $1,800 was a better number, and donated that amount to Magen David Adom! Thank you to all who came out to support saving lives, both in Kansas City and Israel!
A very special thank you to Stacy Wright for organizing and executing this phenomenal morning.
