Volunteering at Pete's Produce in West Chester for Pennsylvania Day

Yesterday, July 20, was National Pennsylvania Day. Chester County Chamber staff members, Marguerite DeGrassa and Julie Fox took part in volunteering to help fellow Pennsylvanians in need, right here in our local Chester County community!

Thank you to the Chester County America250PA & Chester County Commissioner Michelle Kichline for organizing this awesome volunteering opportunity with County Food Bank at Pete's Produce Farm in West Chester.

Pete’s Produce is the main growing site for the Chester County Food Bank’s Agricultural Program, and they continuously maximize their output for the community. What started as a two-acre project has developed into a tightly efficient five-to-seven acres at any given point in the season.

Yesterday, we learned more about all of Pete’s Produce Farm’s and Chester County Food Bank’s wonderful initiatives to help our local community including their involvement in Meals on Wheels, volunteer programs, and more!

LEGISLATIVE UPDATE

The Redevelopment Assistance Capital Program (RACP) has announced the opening of the next round on July 25, 2022, through August 19, 2022.

The RACP is a grant program administered by Pennsylvania’s Office of the Budget for acquisition and construction of regional economic, cultural, civic, recreational, and historical improvement projects. Funding supports programs that have a regional or multi-jurisdictional impact and seek to support and increase employment, tax levels, and other economic activity. Each year Pennsylvania provides funding for more than one round of the program and applicants are encouraged to review the program’s website where valuable information can be found to see if your project would be a good fit. If you have questions about whether or not you believe your project or program is a good fit for application, please let us know! We are happy to talk it through!

To supplement the application, and to provide support for the positive regional impact, letters from organizations like ours, the Chester County Chamber of Business and Industry or your local elected officials, are important. We would encourage you to pursue additional letters of support from the State Representative and State Senator where the project takes place – and we are more than happy to help make these connections for you! Please let us know if you plan to pursue ANY grants within the Chester County region and we will welcome the opportunity to be helpful.

Please visit the Commonwealth’s RACP site by clicking HERE.  In addition to procedures, requirements, timelines, etc., interested visitors may also review lists of previous awardees.

MEMBER SPOTLIGHT

Splitting Edge Axe Throwing

Originally founded in 2018 out of its Pottstown location, splitting edge has been fulfilling southeast Pennsylvanian’s axe-throwing needs for the last 6 years. After expanding to Chester County with its Malvern location right before the pandemic in March 2020, Splitting Edge was challenged with finding a way to get people back to throwing axes for leisure and competition. After a rough beginning, Splitting Edge was able to capitalize on the active market for axe-throwing in Chester County by offering people a place to get away from the stressful parts of the world and have fun with their friends, coworkers or family.

Splitting Edge Malvern separates itself from its competition in several ways including its location, culture and shop design. Located in the Grove shopping mall, Splitting Edge is surrounded by several restaurants that are perfect for going to before or after your axe-throwing session. Splitting Edge also prides itself on being inclusive of everyone regardless of their ability in axe-throwing, ultimately creating the best and most enjoyable experience for the customer. Unlike many other axe-throwing companies, Splitting Edge’s Malvern location is focused on creating a smaller boutique-ish atmosphere instead of the traditional large factory design that other companies tend to have.

If your company is looking for the perfect team building experience, look no further than Splitting Edge Malvern. A perfect place to get you and your coworkers away from the stressful sides of work and into a riveting axe-throwing experience. They also host seasonal leagues for those looking for tougher competition than their coworkers and friends.

Visit their website today for more information!

The Chester County Chamber appreciates Splitting Edge Malvern and GM Matt Bartnicki for its involvement and membership with the Chamber! We are looking forward to our upcoming Business After Hours Event at Splitting Edge on Monday, August 15, 2022!
