Turkey Drive Coordinator for CUMC (for 2019)
Would anyone like to be responsible, going forward, for the annual turkey drive organized by the Community FoodBank of NJ? Peggy and Caesar Sweitzer have graciously been our leaders for approximately 20 years. This one day event (from 9-2pm) has brought the Sweitzers much joy over the years as they witnessed the generosity of our friends and neighbors.   After 20 years, this will be their final Turkey Drive and it is time for them to pass the baton!
Details:
  • The FoodBank supplies posters and the collection truck/driver.
  • The Boy Scouts of Troop 8 supply the labor
  • CUMC assists with poster distribution, emailing local churches and being present the day of the drive - NOT A BIG TIME COMMITMENT!

It would be useful to have someone more skilled at social media/digital publicity. Please give the Sweitzers a call if you are interested. Peggy and Caesar Sweitzer

2018 The Winter Warming Giving Tree
ANNUAL CHRISTMAS GIVING TREE
Gloves, Mittens, Scarves & Hats!
Now - November 25 th
It is that time of the year to think of giving and helping others. The CUMC Youth are coordinating our annual Christmas Giving Tree again this year under the guidance of Dave and Becky Meyer. The tree is up so that we can meet our November 25 th deadline for delivery to CUMAC.
This year is different!!!!
CUMAC will collecting new winter accessories such as new warm hats, scarves, mittens and gloves which can be distributed to children of all ages.
CUMAC has recently connected with a new partner who will be fulfilling over 300 wishes for their partner agencies. As a result of this new partnership, CUMAC will be hosting a two-day event which will provide children of various partner agencies the opportunity to join them for a holiday party, choose a gift, take pictures with Santa and part-take in other fun activities.
To that end they have asked us to help with winter accessories for the youth
The tree, which you’ll find near the top of the stairs by the elevator, is decorated with gift tags containing info about the new gifts requested by families in need. This year the tags will have ages of the children and you can choose to buy gloves, mittens, hat or scarf. (we will be sponsoring infants, toddlers, grade school and middle school children.) Here’s what you do:
  • Take a “warming” gift tag (or two!) from the tree
  • Return the appropriate glove, hat or scarves for the child age designated
  • Return to the tree by Sunday, November 25th.
A donation box will be available in the office as donations are also accepted as CUMAC can always use food. Checks can be made out to CUMC noting Giving Tree in the memo.  If you have further questions please contact David or Becky Meyer at 973.701.6965 Thank you and Bless You
This November, as we fill our stairwell for CUMAC, please keep in mind that the following goods are especially needed before the holidays:
Canned Vegetables
Beans
Proteins
