Michigan Residents Turn to Google For Answers to Financial Questions

By: Rutkowski Law Firm

A new study found that the most commonly-Googled term in 2018 for Michigan residents was "income tax." But while the Internet can help provide you with some information about taxes and financial planning, it is always smart to follow up on your research by meeting, in person, with professional advisers.

This is especially true if you are concerned about state and federal taxes in Michigan. The tax landscape can shift at any time, which is part of the reason so many Michigan resident turn to the Internet to get answers to some common questions. The trust is that as an individual, it may be difficult to stay on top of relevant tax, estate, and elder law planning developments. For example, you might not know how your current estate plan fits into the bigger picture of state and federal laws.

The Sterling Heights Regional Chamber of Commerce is looking for potential candidates for our open board of directors positions. We are currently seeking board seat nominations for three-year terms covering 2020 - 2022, and we invite members to run for a seat on our board of directors. Serving on the Chamber's board of directors is a great way to become more engaged with the organization, connect with the regional business community and stand out as a leader among your peers.

Current Directors whose terms expire in 2019 are David Beran, Mike Weatherly, Tony Licata, Nate Tallman, Frank Barnard and Jim Gianakopoulos. We currently have one vacant seat as well, so we will be filling seven (7) spots for three-year terms.

Members with an interest in serving on our board can submit nominations for consideration by our Nominating Committee.

Please contact Patty Le Duc at 586.731.5400 x 21 or email , for more information and to obtain the required application.

Our partnership with the City of Sterling Heights has once again helped to bring a first-rate festival to our community, and with each passing year, it seems to get even better!

THANK YOU , to our many volunteers. You are the lifeblood of our Chamber, and we're deeply thankful for all you do, at so many levels, day-in and day-out, week-in and week-out, with Sterlingfest our greatest achieved event.

Nearly 200 Chamber members, families, friends and staff put in more than 1000 hours of volunteer shift time over the three-day festival.

A festival of this size takes a lot of time and effort from the City and the Chamber, and it's worked on virtually year round. Chamber staff handled the many details associated with the Farmers Market Pavilion as well as the Big State Tent Bar, Gazebo Bar, along with the Jazz & Blues Bar located next to the Upton House.

A special thanks to Burg's Enterprises Inc., Duo-Care Cleaning and Restoration and Tedesco Building Services Inc. for donating their staff, keeping the pavilion and outdoor patio areas neat and clean over this three-day event.
