Still time to make a difference in our community by shopping local. Great stores, super customer service, free parking and on time delivery (you in your car 😊). There are 100's of stores to choose from like Accent on Attitude, Nancy’s Floral, Heidi’s of Gresham's gift shop, Shop Girl Consignment, Off the Chart Games, Books Around the Corner, and Burns Feed Store.
Competition was fierce but friendly at the Friday AM, hosted by My Father's House and SnowCap Community Charities. Over 200 people attended and participated in the Polar Express theme. Congrats to YMCA Camp Collins for winning the Golden Antler Award for best decorated table!
Gresham Council President Jerry Hinton had a hard job Friday morning. Too many great centerpiece choices to choose from at the AM Christmas Charity Breakfast. Hue Architecture, pictured above, was the winner of the Best Business Representation. Thirty tables were decorated and competed for the coveted award of a star glittered reindeer. Thanks, My Father's House and SnowCap Community Charities, for a great morning.

Single Use Plastic Bag Prohibition Implementation

Rules from DEQ just came out. Starting Jan 1, 2020 businesses can no longer provide single-use bags and must charge a fee for certain types of reusable bags. Businesses out of compliance will be subject to maximum fine of $250 Class D violation which are enforced by law enforcement officers who may issue a citation to a retailer or restaurant. The $250 fine can be assessed each day.  Click here for more information.

Gross Receipts Tax Implementation

Starting Jan 1, 2020 the Gross Receipts Tax (aka Commercial Activities Tax) goes into affect. Rules and regulations have been written. Here are a few:
  1. The law does NOT prohibit any business subject to the tax from passing the tax along to its customers
  2. Law requires businesses with excess of $750,000 to register. Once they reach that threshold, businesses must register within 30 days.
If you don’t know when the $750,000 threshold will be reached, you may register early if you choose.

Tips to Level Up your Business

There are more video hours on YouTube than there has been years of existence for the universe. Also, do not believe everything you read.
When weather causes major power outages, you might only see the line workers and trucks in your neighborhood, but employees company-wide are working until everyone has power again.

Living Green

Consider re-purposing your old cell phone. Take one function and dedicate your phone to it: it can become a media player for your car or an alarm clock. You could also keep it (activated or not) as an emergency spare.
Are you getting enough Vitamin D?

We mostly get it from the sun and unfortunately most of us in the PNW don’t get enough.
Vitamin D is good for immune system function (including autoimmunity), bone strength, reducing inflammation, reducing symptoms of depression, reducing risk of cancer and diabetes.
Try Local

Take Care of the Holiday List Locally!

While we all do not celebrate the Holiday Season in the same way – gift giving is still a tradition of many celebrations. This season, we challenge you to bring joy and happiness to your friends and family while creating prosperity and economic stability to our local business community!
