Creative Solutions: Courtyard Fountains gave their residents the opportunity to order their dinner from fellow member Heidi's of Gresham . Courtyard Fountains has patronized numerous Gresham restaurants. This is a perfect example of intentional local shopping and the circle of life that makes a huge difference in the business community. (And the food was darn good, too!)

Creative Solutions: Last year, non-profit fundraisers like this early breakfast for Birch Community Services, Inc were typically filled with networking opportunities and envelopes for giving on the table. Congratulations to Birch for organizing a virtual fundraiser for May 14th. Check the Member Calendar and Special Deals during Special Times pages on our website for this and many other events taking place.

These masks are no longer available. But others were and are ordered. The Chamber will have washable masks available for members to purchase (3 masks for $10) starting soon. The first delivery of the local product is scheduled for May 8th. Check the website for updates.

Chamber urges NO vote on Metro Income Taxes 26-210

BALLOTS ARRIVED THIS WEEK We know homelessness is a problem, but our opposition was, in part, based on 5 things: No specific plan of how the 250 million dollars per year was going to be spent No successful programs or results were sought our specified Private enterprise was excluded from the implementation or participation in the system change The onslaught of new taxes in the past 14 months including the CAT gross receipts tax The COVID-19 crisis has devastated the finances of businesses and family budgets Right problem to solve, wrong solution and for sure the WRONG TIME TO BE ASKING FOR MORE TAXES.

Try Local First As you know I have always been a huge fan of “Shopping Local”. I smiled as I saw a post on Facebook the other day from my friend Karen Johnston. It stated, “Remember when you asked that small business to support your fundraiser? Now it’s time to support them. They’re the heart of a town.” Not only does Karen’s business (All About Automotive) support local fundraisers but they are always helping local folks with car repairs (I know how that works). Please remember in all your purchases going forward, local businesses need your support.
