Warner Allen (Warren Allen, LLP) is showing tears of joy in this photo taken at the BEA two years ago. After 8 years of being on the Chamber Board, he might be shedding tears of joy again as he is joined by Larry Soulé (Adventist Health Portland) and Adam Reid (Center for Advanced Learning). All three completed their terms on the board Dec 31 st . Four new board members started Jan 1 st . The Chamber was in good hands and continues in good hands. Thank you Larry, Adam, and Warner for your great service to the members.
This is one way to get a Business Excellence Award, but we told Nic Castaneda (TSP Technology, Inc.) that the nomination process is better.  Submit a nomination by clicking here!

Ruth Miles, a Gresham resident, has a very influential position in state government as the Director of the Corporate Division and Tribal Liaison. We are fortunate to start off the Business and Leaders Luncheon series with her as our first speaker for 2020. Ruth always draws a full house so reserve your seat today by clicking here . The luncheon is Tuesday, Jan 21, at Persimmon.
Gross Receipts Tax (Corporate Activity Tax or CAT) Instructions

Registration reminder
Registration for the CAT opened earlier this month through the Department of Revenue’s Revenue Online system found at .

To register, individuals doing business in Oregon will need their name, and their social security number or individual taxpayer identification number. Businesses will need their legal name and federal employer identification number.

General guidance on how to calculate a business’s Corporate Activity Tax (CAT) liability has been added to the FAQ on the CAT page of the Oregon Department of Revenue’s website at .
The new law requires businesses with Oregon commercial activity in excess of $750,000 to register for the Corporate Activity Tax. Once they reach that threshold businesses must register within 30 days. Businesses can choose to register early.

Cross-Country Ski Mt. Hood

I love downhill skiing as much as the next powder hound. The thrill of the steeps, bumps and tree skiing are a welcome annual adrenaline rush. But I look forward to cross-country skiing just as much. It’s a slower, social pastime and a great workout. In the Mt. Hood area, there are cross-country ski trails for all levels, from beginner to expert. To learn more, Click Here.
