Up to the minute changes:
I would like to share with you the most recent steps we are taking to respond to COVID-19. As the situation around the coronavirus is unprecedented and continues to evolve, we are actively working to ensure the health and safety of our members, volunteers, and staff.
Effective immediately
the Gresham Area Chamber will be participating in the Social Distancing requests.
We are canceling, postponing and rescheduling ALL chamber meetings and events until Monday April 6th
.
Of course, we will continue to monitor the situation and make the appropriate adjustments.
Your Chamber Staff is actively planning for the “Go To Gresham” recovery plan.
We will be in communication with all members to formulate a fun and aggressive plan to help all of our businesses and non-profits recover from lack of revenue. We will be formulating a multi-week marketing campaign that will reach out to the community at large.
A Task Force is being formed with recovery measures and implementation as the goal.
The implementation of the multi-week recovery plan will occur at a later date, when our lives feel more like normal. More information will be forthcoming.
In the meantime, we will continue to encourage everyone that can to utilize our businesses. You can still support your fellow members and local businesses. Order take-out from your favorite restaurants, buy gift certificates or gift cards for future use, donate time or funds to one of the many non-profits that also will be impacted.
Included in this newsletter, we are posting resource information. The information will be helpful and useful to many of our members. Keep checking our website and social media platforms for rapid responses and additional information.
Our ability to remain calm and our focus on supporting each other will help us rebound even faster. This community has always risen to the occasion!

Even though you weren’t in the room, you were WELL represented. Mayor Bemis updated Chamber member representatives mapping out what actions the city is taking and encouraging all of us to support each other. Attending the briefing were large, medium, small businesses, profit and non-profit, as well as education. 18 Different industry sectors were at the table with questions and suggestions. Thank you, Mayor, for your steadfast leadership.

Yes, due to the Coronavirus, some behaviors changed at the Business Excellence Awards luncheon. Editor and Publisher at The Gresham Outlook, Steve Brown, elbow tapped the BEA presenting sponsor, Christina Price of Edward Jones. Attendance was not affected by the virus, however the attendees were affected by the moving stories told when the award winners were introduced.

Business Excellence Awards Honoree of the year, Mayor Shane Bemis, is joined by fellow honorees, Warner Allen (2016) and Greg Matthews (2018). As with all the Honorees, Mayor Bemis was humble in his acceptance speech as well as touched and emotionally moved by the award.
