Gresham Chamber Government Affairs Council Recommendations
Your Chamber Government Affairs Council takes their responsibility seriously. The Council followed their established process to research, review and then recommend. The Chamber Board receives the recommendations and determines the outcomes. The following decisions have been recommended and approved by the Chamber Board.
State Representative
District 49 Justin Hwang
District 51 Lori Chaves Deremers
Metro Council
Joe Buck
Gresham City Races
Mayor Shane Bemis
Councilor Position 2 Kirk French
Councilor Position 4 Ryan Johnson
Councilor Position 6 Janine Gladfelter
Ballot Measures
Support Measure 103 prohibiting state and local taxes on groceries
Support Measure 104 requiring 3/5 vote on any revenue raising legislation
Oppose Metro Housing Bond 26-199
While the Council unanimously agrees that housing for all levels of income is in short supply, there are many unknowns as the measure is written.  Currently, the state constitution does not allow revenue from bond issues to be used in a project with private owners or stakeholders. (If Measure 102, designed to provide an exception to this prohibition for the construction of affordable housing, the Metro Housing Bond would be more acceptable to the Chamber.) [2]
Above all, gather the information necessary for you to make a wise and solid decision for you personally and professionally.
Then vote.

Neurobics (No Spandex Required)

Your brain needs workouts, too. “Neurobics” can strengthen the brain’s biochemical pathways and bring new circuits online. Brush your teeth with your “other” hand, take a new route to work (without your GPS), shut your eyes and choose your clothes based on your sense of touch. People with mental agility have lower rates of Alzheimer’s Disease and mental decline.
