BACC President's Message:
Dining Out Makes Us Feel Connected to Community!
An interesting survey of 1,000 consumers published in QSR Magazine says Americans link restaurants with better days and milestone moments.

According to the results, 70% of the respondents indicated that eating at restaurants reminds them of better times and will make them feel normal again. When restaurants open up again, they feel dining out will be even more special.

For 60% of respondents, dining out makes them feel connected to community; 63% say they feel dining out lets them do their part in supporting their local economy; and 51% say dining out is a big part of how they socialize.

For 50% of respondents, they miss dining in restaurants more than many other things. Perhaps because for 53% of them, restaurants feel like part of their home and community, even part of their family. As a result, dining in your local restaurants leads to a number of emotional benefits such as relaxation, satisfaction, warmth and comfort, appreciation and gratitude, joy and reward, to name a few.

As restaurants begin to prepare for dining in options, it will be a delicate balancing act to create warmth and community while adhering to COVID-19 guidelines. It will require them to change the shape of their spaces and the style of their service. Let's do what we can to ensure that they get there. And just like family, let's be patient and understanding. -- Suzanne Corr, BACC President
