FREE Milkweed Day this Friday!

The Fannin County Chamber, University of Georgia Extension, Blue Ridge Elementary School and Fannin County High School FFA have partnered up to stratify milkweed and will have FREE plants available for pick up on Friday, May 9 from 10:00 a.m.- 12:00 p.m. at the Ag Center, 43 Station Ridge, Blue Ridge.

Commitment to Conservation

On Earth Day, the Fannin County Chamber of Commerce proudly launched its Commitment to Conservation program at Mercier Orchards— an initiative designed to recognize and support local businesses that are making environmentally conscious choices.

Through this program, participating businesses that meet the outlined sustainability practices will be awarded a Conservation Badge (or plaque) to display with pride, showcasing their dedication to protecting the natural beauty of the Blue Ridge Mountains.

Whether you’re already practicing eco-friendly habits or are just beginning your journey toward sustainability, this is a great way to get involved, make a positive impact, and inspire others in our community.

We’d like to extend our sincere thanks to Mercier Orchards for leading the way as the first official participant in the Commitment to Conservation program. Their proactive efforts in environmental stewardship and sustainable practices make them a shining example of what it means to support both local business and the preservation of our beautiful mountain region.

May Member Spotlight - City of McCaysville

The City of McCaysville is known as a Riverfront Town with Deep Roots, established in 1904. It is home to a diverse mix of businesses with a unique relationship with its sister city, Copperhill TN. The City of McCaysville has 25 full time employees which include the Office Staff, Police Department and the Water Department. Mayor Arp is very complimentary of the staff stating, “the biggest asset of the City are the employees”. McCaysville will be managing some key projects over the next few years including the reconstruction of the Bridge, Water Pump Station Project as well as upgrading their offices. Future plans are also to expand the City Park, update current property for a Community Center and so much more! Take the time to come to McCaysville for a visit, the small-town charm and friendly atmosphere will make you want to visit again!

Susan Ross is a Real Estate Agent located in Blue Ridge GA and services all of North Georgia. She has been in the Real Estate industry for over 20 years in different capacities.
