Join us to welcome Shabbat.
With the High Holy Days approaching, we'd like to give you the opportunity to ask your questions about High Holy Days themes for Rabbi to answer. Send us one to three questions on your mind by email by this Wednesday, and we will pick several to answer during Kabbalat Shabbat this Friday night. (If you'd like your question answered without Rabbi mentioning your name at services, just let us know in your email.)
During this Shabbat, we will also hold a
Dedication Ceremony of the Goldfarb Family Bistro in memory of Bunny and Joe Goldfarb. Our Oneg will be sponsored by David Goldfarb and Daisy Zhu, in memory of his beloved parents, Bunny and Joe Goldfarb.

Selichot and ... Albert Brooks??
What does Albert Brooks (pictured at right) have to do with Selichot? Find out at our Selichot program, where we'll show clips from
Defending Your Life, starring Albert Brooks and Meryl Streep.
Selichot helps us prepare intellectually, emotionally, and spiritually for the High Holy Days. During the evening, we'll hear phrases from our most beloved High Holy Days prayers and melodies, change our Torah cover from its everyday garb to holiday white, and explore what Albert Brooks - and
Defending Your Life
- can teach us.

In Jewish life, one of our most meaningful roles is fulfilling
mitzvot
by helping each other when we are in need.
The Caring Committee of Congregation Kehillah works
as an extended family, to organize and mobilize aid
and
assistance for our community.
Our Caring Committee
- sends cards for simchas and milestones, including birthdays, anniversaries, and b'nai mitzvah
- visits the ailing at home or in the hospital
- shops for groceries or delivers meals
- makes phone calls
- participates in activities with the Social Action Committee.

Please email Scarlett Allison

Did you know . . .
that it is customary to donate at the time of Yizkor or when Kaddish is recited in memory of a loved one? It is also customary to make a donation when given an aliyah (honor) during a service.
Jewish Philanthropy: The Concept of Tzedakah is a much-admired practice throughout the world. "In Jewish tradition, tzedakah requires the donor share his or her compassion and empathy along with the money. Judaism teaches the belief that donors benefit from tzedakah as much [as] or more than the recipients."
You can find out more about the roots and practices of Jewish philanthropy at Learning to Give.

Your donations in any amount are genuinely appreciated.
Please help support Congregation Kehillah by donating to Kehillah's various funds

You can donate through our website in any amount or send a check. Congregation Kehlllah is a 501(c)(3) organization; donations are tax-exempt to the fullest extent allowable by law. (Please consult with your tax adviser.)
