Volunteer Spotlight:

Mount Notre Dame Students Give Back

This past Tuesday, we were thrilled to welcome students from Mount Notre Dame High School as they kicked off a four-date Capstone volunteer project at our Norwood offices. Over the course of the program, these dedicated students will complete more than 20 hours of volunteer service supporting the mission of Dress for Success Cincinnati.

During their first volunteer day on June 2, the students handmade beautiful affirmation bead bracelets and heartfelt notes for the women we serve. They also jumped right into action aboard our Mobile Styling truck, helping organize, clean, and sort style kits that support women entering or re-entering the workforce. It was wonderful to see several returning student volunteers back at DFSC, while also welcoming many new faces eager to give back to the community.

At Dress for Success Cincinnati, we are incredibly grateful for the partnerships we continue to build with local high schools. In addition to Mount Notre Dame, we currently partner with Saint Ursula Academy, DePaul Cristo Rey High School, and La Salle High School. We are always excited to connect with additional schools and students who have a passion for volunteering and community impact.

It is truly inspiring to see such compassionate and service-minded high school students dedicating their time and energy to helping others. We are so grateful for their kindness, enthusiasm, and commitment to making a difference.

If your local high school is interested in partnering with DFSC for volunteer opportunities, or if you know a student passionate about giving back to the community, please contact Natalie Meyer at NMeyer@dfscincy.org to learn more about ways to get involved.

Styling with Purpose:

The Dress for Success Experience

We are incredibly grateful for the many volunteer stylists who serve in our Style Studios throughout the region—whether at our Norwood headquarters, Mobile Styling Boutique, or Loveland location. Through your time, compassion, and dedication, you help women prepare for interviews, employment, and important opportunities that can change the course of their lives.

As volunteer stylists, we are an extension of the Dress for Success mission. Every woman who walks through our doors should feel welcomed, respected, supported, and more confident when she leaves than when she arrived.

To ensure every client receives a consistent and empowering experience, the following styling guidelines apply:

Interviewing Clients Receive:

  • Two complete professional outfits for interviews, work, or career-related goals
  • Shoes, jewelry, a handbag, and available undergarments may be included

Employed Clients Receive:

  • Up to 10 items to help build a professional work wardrobe
  • Items may include clothing, shoes, accessories, and a handbag

Please Note:

  • Undergarments, hygiene items, goodie bags, coats, socks, and camisoles do not count toward the 10-item total.

While the clothing matters, the experience matters even more. Our role as stylists is not simply to fill a shopping bag. It is to listen, encourage, and help each woman select clothing that reflects who she is and where she is going. We want her to feel comfortable, professional, confident, and authentically herself.

Most importantly, every woman should leave Dress for Success feeling prepared for her next step and knowing that someone believes in her potential.

Thank you for bringing kindness, patience, encouragement, and positivity to every styling appointment. The impact you make extends far beyond the clothing on the rack.
