ABOUT US
The Jerry Ambrose Veterans Council (JAVC) was formed July 2010 by two former Marines, Jerry Ambrose and Gene Crego. Jerry Ambrose had a plan that he wanted to bring the various veteran organization together in an effort to coordinate their efforts in helping veterans in need and promoting veterans issues.
When it originally formed it was called the Kingman Veterans Council and the first meeting was held at Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 10386 in Kingman. The first meeting was as attended by approximately 35 veterans from around Mohave County. As the goal of the council was to bring the various organizations together the name was changed to the Mohave County Veterans Council...

COVID-19 TESTING AVAILABLE FOR LAUGHLIN EMPLOYEES
|
|
Hello Laughlin Businesses,
As you are likely aware, Senate Bill 4 was signed about a week ago and there is a component regarding employer mandatory covid testing in Nevada (Clark County). Our good friends at the Riverside Resort were kind enough to take the lead and secure a lab to open up testing on Casino Dr. every Tuesday & Thursday 9am-4pm.
Please consult your HR or legal advisors on Senate Bill 4, but if you would like to take advantage of this testing in Laughlin, please see the notes below on how to create your employer account so you can send employees there as needed.
We hope you find this useful. We are also attaching a flier that was created to give to your team members.
Employers should follow this link (or click the button below):
A confirmation email will be sent that will give you access to the portal and allow you to on-board your employees.

All smiles as kids return to school in Laughlin
LAUGHLIN — It was all smiles and joy at Bennett Elementary on Monday morning as teachers and their long-lost students were finally re-united on campus back, at their own school for the first time in a year.
Laughlin Principal Dawn Estes was beaming as she welcomed the Pre-K through third-graders back to school along with a plethora of staff who met the kids curbside as they were dropped off at school by a convoy of Clark County School District buses the likes of which haven't been seen in Laughlin for some time. They were followed in procession by a very long line of cars filled with smiling parents and students, all of whom appeared to be excited to see old friends and get back to a routine of normalcy that has been missing since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic.
In total, 56 students reported back to school for in-person, on-campus learning Monday morning, and more are expected to join them as CCSD and Nevada reopen the campuses.

Applicants sought for citizens advisory committees
LAS VEGAS — Clark County is accepting applications from residents interested in serving on their community advisory committee.
There are open seats on the Town Advisory Boards in Indian Springs, Paradise and Searchlight, as well as openings on the Citizens Advisory Councils in Lower Kyle Canyon and Mountain Springs.
Applicants must be eligible to vote, live within the area encompassed by the Town Advisory Board or Citizens Advisory Council they are applying for and attend annual training.
TAB and CAC secretaries also will have applications available.
The TAB and CAC appointments are expected to be made by the Clark County Board of Commissioners in April. Anyone appointed through this process would serve until January 2023.

Bullhead City landscape to change significantly in coming year
Editor's note: The economy of Bullhead City and the surrounding areas have without a doubt been impacted by the COVID pandemic over the past year, but maybe not to the extent that we have thought, and certainly not to the extent that other communities have. In the last of a three-part series, we discuss the future of economic development in Bullhead City with City Manager Toby Cotter.
BULLHEAD CITY — The future of economic development is stronger than ever in Bullhead City, according to City Manager Toby Cotter.
It has been impressive with how many new businesses have either moved to, or formed in, Bullhead City recently, but the amount of new business on the horizon could be even more impressive.

MOHAVE HIGH CHOIRS PERFORMING RIVER-THEMED SMALL GROUP CONCERT THURSDAY NIGHT
BULLHEAD CITY – Life along the Colorado River has changed for most during the past year. Music students at Mohave High School will show this in a unique river-themed concert March 4, singing primarily small groups and ensembles rather than in large, full choirs.
The Thursday night concert begins at 7:00 p.m. in the Mohave High auditorium. Tickets are $3 per person. Seating will be socially-distanced and limited to 250 on a first-come, first-admitted basis. Masks are required for audience members.
Among the “river songs” on the program is the hymn “Down to the River to Pray,” Carly Simon’s Academy Award-winning hit “Let the River Run” from the film “Working Girl,” the early 1800s folk song “Oh Shenandoah,” and the pre-Civil War folk song “A Poor Wayfaring Stranger,” popularized in the 20th Century by Burl Ives, Johnny Cash and Emmy Lou Harris.

Donate blood and save up to three lives! During the holiday season, blood donations decline by up to 25% and we need the community's support to help hospital patients in critical need of blood donations.
With the impact of COVID-19 on business and school closures, thousands of blood drives have been canceled. At this community blood drive, Vitalant will be collecting whole blood donations to help hospital patients in need of blood transfusions. Donating blood is an essential healthcare activity.
Each successful blood donation will be tested for COVID-19 antibodies. Donors will receive their results within two weeks.
Those who receive positive antibody results will have the opportunity to apply to be a convalescent plasma donor to save the lives of COVID-19 patients.
Because of you, life doesn’t stop.
Donate blood.
