SRUMC Grief Group

Begins October 7, 6:30pm

Individuals and communities within our society are uncomfortable with grief. We are taught grief is something that we must get through in a linear and timely manner. And, if we do not, we are told that we will get stuck in our grief. We often begin to believe there is something wrong with us and the way we grieve. In reality, none of this is true. We grieve for all kinds of reasons, the loss of a loved one, health, a relationship, a job, hope for what might have been in the future. And everyone’s experience with grief is unique and follows its own timeline and process. Yet, one commonality that holds true for most is that support and care from others can help reduce the suffering that is experienced during grief.

Because of this, Sugar River will be offering a Grief Support Group facilitated by Pastor Erin beginning in October. The group is open to anyone who is grieving and looking for support and care from others. It will be a place to share your experience of grief, connect with others, and find some tools and strategies along the way that might help reduce suffering that so often accompanies grief.

The group will meet every other week on Wednesdays at Sugar River from 630pm to 745pm. The first meeting will be Wednesday, October 7th. Meeting dates are:

October 7 and 21

November 4 and 18

December 2 and 16

January 6 and 20

BPNN Birthday Bags

BPNN is short birthday bags for the children of families who come to the food pantry. Can we help provide them with more? Yes, we can! Each birthday bag should be 8"x4.25"x10.5" so that they fit on the storage shelf at BPNN. You can provide your own bag or use one from the serve table. Each bag should include the following. The soda is used in the cake recipe that will be included in the bag, This allows for the cake to be made without any eggs or cooking oil.

-   one cake mix, any flavor

-   one can of prepared frosting, any flavor

-   12 oz can of Sprite, Coke, or strawberry Fanta

-   one package of cake candles or 12 candles in a small ziplock bag
