SRUMC Grief Group

Begins October 7, 6:30pm

Individuals and communities within our society are uncomfortable with grief. We are taught grief is something that we must get through in a linear and timely manner. And, if we do not, we are told that we will get stuck in our grief. We often begin to believe there is something wrong with us and the way we grieve. In reality, none of this is true. We grieve for all kinds of reasons, the loss of a loved one, health, a relationship, a job, hope for what might have been in the future. And everyone’s experience with grief is unique and follows its own timeline and process. Yet, one commonality that holds true for most is that support and care from others can help reduce the suffering that is experienced during grief.

Because of this, Sugar River will be offering a Grief Support Group facilitated by Pastor Erin beginning in October. The group is open to anyone who is grieving and looking for support and care from others. It will be a place to share your experience of grief, connect with others, and find some tools and strategies along the way that might help reduce suffering that so often accompanies grief.

The group will meet every other week on Wednesdays at Sugar River from 630pm to 745pm. The first meeting will be Wednesday, October 7th. Meeting dates are:

October 7 and 21

November 4 and 18

December 2 and 16

January 6 and 20

LOL Resumes with Picnic Lunch

September 15, 9:30am

Would you like to join a fun group of women as we Live, Learn, Laugh and Love Out Loud this fall? LOL is starting up with a brunch potluck, on Tuesday morning September 15, at 9:30-11:00 in the central big room UPSTAIRS at church. Bring any food you want to share, or don't bother...we always have plenty! We will have time to welcome each other and catch up on summer news.

Our new study, Embracing the Uncertain by Magrey deVega will begin the following Tuesday, September 22. We have a relaxed format, lots of discussion and sharing, and a new topic every six to eight weeks.

Everyone is welcome anytime! Any questions, contact Laura Flood. See you there!
