This Sunday, in addition to our 8:00 am, 9:00 am, 10:00 am, 11:00 am, 12:00 pm, and 5:00 pm services, we will be offering Prayer and Pipes at 4:15 pm. Prayer and Pipes is a time for personal meditation in the cathedral nave while the organ is played. Music will include Samuel Barber’s Adagio for Strings and other reflective selections. No pre-registration is necessary, but attendees will need to give contact information to the ushers, wear face masks, and maintain physical distancing. Attendance will be capped at 50.

We are pleased to be able to provide music at all our Sunday worship services. Our organists, choristers, and noon service musicians create live music for in-person liturgies, make recordings for virtual services, and employ a host of skills beyond their usual duties such as audio editing. Join us this Wednesday evening at 7:00 pm for a virtual Taizé prayer service sung by the Virtual Cathedral Choir, and stay tuned for next week’s virtual Compline service.

As we enter the 2020-21 season, music programming is kicking up a notch. Our weekly Music Live at Lunch series begins September 8 at 12:10 pm, featuring a wide variety of music offered online with limited in-person attendance as safety permits. Similarly, the first in our organ recital series at 4:00 pm on September 20 will be available online whether or not an audience is in attendance. Check the website for the latest details, and if you haven’t received a copy of our 2020-21 music season brochure, please contact Kathy Noe to have one mailed to you—and request one for a friend you think might be interested!
