FROM THE PRINCIPAL'S DESK | |
Hi All,
We are so proud of all of the progress your child has made this trimester! We'll be opening up parent access to the "parent portal" in ASPEN for progress reports on November 28th. As you review your child's progress report, please know that each trimester, the standard for a student to "meet expectations" (or a "3" on the progress report) moves up! Teachers reflect on student learning in these new units each trimester when composing student progress reports and think carefully about your child’s progress over the trimester period.
It's also important to know that the way some standards are currently written on the progress report, the highest a student can perform would be to "meet standard" at this point in the year. For example, in Kindergarten meeting standard for letter identification is knowing all 26 letters. Students can't exceed that standard without adding more letters to the alphabet!
On a whole, progress reports should provide you with an overview of student growth each trimester. The progress report is in place to serve rich conversation about success and areas for growth for every single student; and to that end, please continue to partner with your child's teacher as you move into this first round of parent-teacher conferences! As always, if you have any additional questions or concerns, don't hesitate to contact your child's classroom teacher. Christina and my door are always open to help as well!
Looking forward to parent teacher conferences the week of November 28th.
Thanks,
Luke

Dear Ox Ridge Parents,
We hope that you had a wonderful weekend! This past week students and teachers participated in our first School Wide Enrichment event. Sucari is a multicultural show that features many instruments from many Spanish speaking countries in South and Central America, the Caribbean, Spain and Mexico. Students had a great time participating in the performances by playing instruments, wearing traditional head gear and dancing. Special thanks to the whole SWE team in getting these performers to come to Ox Ridge this year!
We are excited to be planning a whole week of spirit from December 19-23, just before the holidays. Stay tuned for details on this upcoming Spirit Week!
Reminder about lost and found - All items place on the rolling rod and in the boxes in the front vestibule will be donated to a local charity by the end of the month of they are not claimed.
As we head into Thanksgiving week, we would like to send our heartfelt thanks and appreciation to all of the Ox Community that help make our school community so wonderful!
XO OX

NATIONAL SPECIAL EDUCATION DAY
Darien Public Schools will observe this important milestone on December 1st to include our ELP staff. This day commemorates the anniversary of our nation’s first federal special education law, the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act, signed by President Ford on December 2, 1975. The Darien Public School District’s parent community is proud to show our appreciation of all of our teachers and staff.
As part of our celebrations, we are asking Ox students to create 'thank you' cards for their teachers and service providers. Your child may decorate and sign the attached card template, or feel free to create your own card! Please have your child deposit their card(s) in the designated box in the front office by Wednesday, November 30th.
