Dear parents


We hope that everyone had a safe and relaxing spring break. Please join us in welcoming our new SSO! Officer John O’Connor will be starting tomorrow to help keep our community safe! Thank you to those  who attended our PTO speaker series and had the chance to meet our Officer O’Connor and the new Director of Security Mr Leon Krolikowski.  Should you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to reach out to us or to Dr. Forshaw directly.


This week starts our “Earth Week” and we look forward to a week of morning announcements, read alouds and presentations all centered around this topic. Don’t forget to wear green on Thursday!

DARIEN SPORT SHOP SPRING CHARITY SHOPPING EVENT: COUPONS ON SALE!

Ox Ridge is excited to partner again with the Darien Sports Shop for their Spring Charity Shopping Event, “Do Good, Look Good” taking place from Tuesday, April 18th, through Thursday, April 20th.  Purchase a $10 coupon from the Ox Ridge PTO and receive a 15% discount on all Darien Sport Shop purchases during their charity shopping days. Proceeds from ticket sales will benefit the Ox Ridge PTO. Coupons can be purchased HERE and will be emailed prior to April 18th. GUY TALK & GIRL TALK - YWCA

Darien YWCA Parent Awareness in partnership with Elementary School PTOs present "GUY  TALK: What Every Boy Needs to Know About Puberty.” Thursday, April 20th from 6:30-8pm at Tokeneke Elementary School. This workshop is intended for boys approaching puberty (approximately ages 10-12) and their father or caretaker. Join Dr. Todd Palker from New England Pediatrics for a straightforward discussion on the physical and emotional changes of puberty where he will help teach your son about what to expect in the future. There will be Q&A at the end. Note: This is NOT a sex talk, it’s a starting point for further discussions about your son’s changing body. As a parent, you are in the best position to decide whether your son is ready to hear about the changes that come with puberty. Register at www.ywcadn.org.


Darien YWCA Parent Awareness in partnership with Elementary School PTOs present "GIRL TALK: What Every Girl Needs to Know About Puberty.” Thursday, April 27th from 6:30-8pm at Holmes Elementary School. This workshop is intended for girls approaching puberty (approximately ages 10-12) and their mother or caretaker. Join speaker Diane Frankel-Gramelis from Yale School of Public Health for a straightforward and entertaining discussion on the physical and emotional changes of puberty where she will help teach your daughter what to expect in the future. There will be Q&A at the end. Note: This is NOT a sex talk, it’s a starting point for further discussions about your daughter’s changing body. As a parent, you are in the best position to decide whether your daughter is ready to hear about the changes that come with puberty including topics such as: BO—what's that smell?; Breast buds and development--what are we training with a bra anyway?; What exactly do I look like down there?; What about discharge? DARIEN ADVOCATES FOR EDUCATION OF THE GIFTED (DAEG) SPEAKER + LUNCHEON

Please join DAEG and any parents in Darien interested in a talk entitled, "Helping our Children Find Passion and Purpose in Today's World: Tips and Strategies for Parents of Gifted and High Performing Students," given by Nicole Waicunas, Creator and Co-Director of the School for Innovative Learning. "Community News" information/events will run for a maximum of two consecutive Hoot editions. Please time your submissions accordingly.
