FROM THE PRINCIPAL'S DESK

Hi All,

Congratulations to our Unified Sports team for a wonderful Ox Ridge Unified Day this Saturday! Unified Sports (http://www.specialolympics.org/unified-sports.aspx) seeks to join students with and without disabilities to participate in a variety of athletic events. It was inspired by a simple principle; training together and playing together is a quick path to friendship and understanding. We are so proud of our incredible team for embodying this spirit of fun and cooperation this spring.

Thank you to coaches Hoffer, Thadal and Giannattasio along with all of our amazing adult supports to the team for such a successful season!

Thanks,

Luke

FROM THE PTO

Dear Ox Ridge Parents,

It’s Staff Appreciation week! The PTO has been hard at work planning lots of special things to show our teachers, staff, and administrators that they are the VIP's of Ox Ridge. Please remember to have your children bring in their “fan mail” on Thursday, May 11th to express their appreciation for their teachers and the Ox Ridge staff.

Our kindergarten and third grade students will be going on PTO sponsored field trips this Friday, May 12th. Kindergarteners will experience the outdoors at the Darien Nature Center while third graders will be traveling to Bridgeport to see the “Wizard of Oz”at the Downtown Cabaret Theater. These field trips are possible due to your generosity. Thank you!

Lastly, thank you to all who participated in our inaugural “Trunk and Eat” here at Ox Ridge this afternoon. It was wonderful to see all the different countries and cultures represented. Fun was had by all!

Thanks and have a wonderful week!

Parenting is the hardest job in the world! What works and what doesn’t?” with Susan O'Brien, LCSW on Tuesday May 16th, 9:30-10:30am, Darien YWCA 2nd Floor. Parenting is one of the most important and most rewarding jobs in the world, but it can also be the most difficult! When our children push our buttons, our skills and intentions can go out the window and we may respond in ineffective ways. This workshop will teach techniques to manage everyday parenting challenges and react appropriately and consistently to your child, even when you are under stress. Workshop is appropriate for parents of preschool and elementary age children. To register, email [email protected]

The museum’s colonial herb and flower garden and collection of colorful quilts will inspire crafting natural dyes and botanical prints on fabric to complete a sewing project. Campers will also have time outdoors to play old-fashioned games before returning home with their many “masterpieces”! The Museum of Darien is located at 45 Old Kings Highway in Darien.
