FROM THE PRINCIPAL'S DESK
Hi All,

With December officially upon us, I want to remind you all of our practice for outdoor recess in the colder weather. It is so important for kids to get outdoors to play and get some fresh air, so if the “real feel” is 20 degrees or higher, we do hold outdoor recess. It is imperative that students have appropriate attire; e.g. jackets, gloves, long pants for these days. Please help us make sure kids have what they need to have a safe and fun recess experience by equipping your child before he/she arrives at school.

As a “winter gear” reminder, please know that we still have our “Lost and Found” table in the front vestibule. We are reminding students during the day to check lost and found and collect their items. Please encourage your child to take a look for any belongings before the holiday break – we plan to donate the remaining articles at that time.

Finally, on behalf of all teachers – thanks for your engagement during conference week! Your questions and interest in your child’s progress are a vital part of maintaining productive, student-centered partnerships!

Thanks,
Luke
FROM THE PTO
Dear Ox Ridge Parents,

We have lots of uplifting news to share beginning with praise for your generosity and support of our 20-year partnership with the Family & Children's Agency (FCA) during the holiday season.  Through “Hope Chest” we were able to brighten the holidays for foster children in nearby communities by giving 177 Amazon Gift cards to these children in need.  Thank you to all the families that participated in this important Ox Ridge tradition.

Additionally, the Kids Care Club (KCC) met on Friday with a representative from FCA’s foster care team to hear about the services they provide. The KCC also spent time crafting beautiful holiday cards for the foster children, which will be delivered along with the gift cards from Hope Chest.

Finally, we would like to encourage you to join us on Thursday evening for our Speaker Series on Social Emotional Learning. Many of our incredible educators and school psychologists will be leading the discussion, so it is a great opportunity to meet the awesome team that supports all the children at Ox Ridge.  More information is below.

CDSP: DID YOU KNOW?
The Council of Darien School Parents (CDSP) is the umbrella organization for all Darien Public School PTOs. Did you know that CDSP has a special education subcommittee? The committee is made up of parent representatives from each of the seven schools. These reps work closely with their building administration and PTO chairs to build awareness and foster community and communication. December 2nd marked National Special Education Day - this year the CDSP Special Education committee began a new tradition in Darien of honoring our SE teachers with a show of gratitude to all staff. Kadi Lublin is the SE Chair for CDSP this year and can be reached at [email protected] with any questions or comments.
