The Family:
Three Journeys into the Heart of the Twentieth Century by David Laskin
Beginning with a Torah scribe in Russia and following the different paths his children take you'll gain new understanding of those who made it in America, including the founder of the Maidenform Bra Company; those who made Aliyah to pre-Israel, Palestine; and those who stayed in Europe and suffered the onslaught of the Nazis.
"The Family is a deeply personal, dramatic, and emotional account of
people caught in a cataclysmic time in world history."
We will be reading “The Family”, and then discussing it on
Tuesdays, December 13 and 20 at 10 AM.
(note change of dates)
There will also be other opportunities to discuss this book. It is great preparation for a trip to Israel, Eastern Europe or the
Lower East Side.
