July 15 – A “Bach-to-Bach” Sunday
The 10:00am service on Sunday, July 15th will feature the music of Johann Sebastian Bach (1685-1750) and the talents of both St. Paul’s summer and year-round parishioners.

Ann Martindale will sing Gott soll allein mein Herze haben (God alone shall have my heart), from Cantata 169 – a light and melodic aria perfect for a   Nantucket summer Sunday morning. Nigel Goss will provide the bass continuo with Joe Hammer on organ.

The postlude is an organ duet for four hands featuring Bob Havery and Joe Hammer. Bob and his wife, Bonnie, are long-time St. Paul’s summer  parishioners; both serve on the music department faculty at Westover School in Middlebury, Connecticut. Bob will join Joe on the organ bench for a four-hand transcription of Bach’s Organ Concerto in C major, BWV 595.

The choir will sing Bach’s beloved Jesu, Joy of Man’s Desiring from Cantata 147.

Soli Deo Gloria
(Latin for Glory to God alone. Bach wrote the initials "S. D. G." at the end of all his church compositions.)

Please let Christine ([email protected]) in the office know if you are interested in helping with this important ministry .
