St. Paul’s Christmas Market, Sat. Dec. 7
th
DONATIONS NEEDED
It’s time to get excited because……..CHRISTMAS IS COMING and so is ST. PAUL’S CHRISTMAS MARKET! Many, but not all, of our Committee Chairs are in place and now it’s a matter of COLLECTING FABULOUS ITEMS to sell at the market. When you are CLOSING UP and CLEANING OUT for the season, won’t you please consider DONATING things that would make great Christmas gifts? –
China, Crystal, Antiques, Art, Jewelry, Christmas Decorations, Wrapping Paper, New Advent Calendars, Ornaments, Hand Crafted Items,
Christmas Gifts You Received But Never Used.
Anything portable (small or medium sized) that would make a wonderful present for someone. You may leave your donations on the bench in the Parish House.
Silent Auction Items Needed
The St. Paul’s Christmas Market is looking for special items for its Silent Auction. Specifically high end pieces of art or jewelry, antiques, a rare wine, a gift basket of spa items or gourmet food items or another theme. Anything that is special or unique that can be carried off island easily.
Christmas Market Volunteer Managers Needed!!
Christmas Gift Chalet Manager
: We need a manager to oversee the Christmas Gift Chalet tables of the Christmas Market. This entails collecting, sorting, pricing, and placing all the donations we sell at the market. This is a fun job and will have lots of support throughout the process from other volunteers.
Please call Christmas Market Chair, Olly Wolf at 302-236-4389 Wolfsanddogs@verizon.net with any questions, suggestions or to volunteer.
THANK YOU

A Summary of Vestry Actions taken at its
September 19
th
Meeting.
Final Cornell Overview
Joe Hammer reported that the Cornell University Chamber Singers were extremely pleased with their visit to the island and hoped to return in the future. Joe thanked all those who hosted members or who helped with the events during the week.
Treasurer’s report
Martin McKerrow reported that August was a good month as plate donations and pledges continue to be above the budget projections. Martin noted that at the June 18, 2018 Vestry meeting, the current investment guidelines proposed by the Finance Committee were approved by the Vestry. He requested a 6 month waiver of that portion of those guidelines which require the investments to be in “indexed mutual funds”. One fund is not indexed and it will take time to make the changes needed. A motion was made, seconded and approved unanimously to grant the 6 month waiver.
Priest-in-Charge Comments
Max gave a brief review of the educational retreat he recently attended in New Hampshire. 24 clergy attended the event which focused on health, finances, career status and spirituality.
Fellowship committee report
Libby Tracey reviewed the barbecue that will be held this coming Sunday following the hymn sing. The committee also discussed the efforts to welcome the J1 Visa students to the island.
Stewardship update
Pam Goddard reported that Peter Barnes has joined her as co-chair of this year’s Stewardship Campaign. A tri-fold brochure is being prepared which should be ready by October 1
st
and which will be mailed and emailed by October 8
th
.
The in-gathering of all pledges will be on the first Sunday in November.
Long Range Planning committee update
Ken said the committee had met yesterday and drafted proposed changes to the mission statement. The following mission statement was approved unanimously by the Vestry,
“The mission of St. Paul’s Church in Nantucket is to make
the Love of God more widely known.”
Buildings and Grounds report
Robert Inglis said the last of the acoustic tiles will be in place within a week or two.The leak in the women's restroom in Gardner Hall is possibly attributable to a combination of low-flush toilets, infrequent use, and a clog in one of the peat traps. Rectory painting is proceeding. Tree maintenance behind the rectory is scheduled for September 28
th
.
Warden’s reports
Max & Olly will be away November 4-21 for a respite on Block Island. The nominating committee will need to meet over the next two to three months.
Other Business
Martin reiterated the need for someone to keep the website up to date. Max reminded us that with so many events coming up, we need to put another newsletter out.
