Prayer of the Week
Prayer for in the Evening
O Lord, support us all the day long, until the shadows lengthen, and the evening comes, and the busy world is hushed, and the fever of life is over, and our work is done. Then in thy mercy, grant us a safe lodging, and a holy rest, and peace at the last. Amen

Please Volunteer
The Vestry is organizing a
Discernment Committe
e
to conclude the three-year Diocesan Priest-in-Charge process. A number of Vestry members have volunteered to serve, but we need many others from the parish to complete the committee.
The committee will have an organizational meeting on Thursday, February 6
th
at 5:00 pm in the Parish house to schedule future meetings, review the process and organize into sub-committees. The sub-committees will develop a parish survey, update our parish profile, review our areas of mutual ministries, and prepare a recommendation to the Vestry on calling our next Rector. The committee will be assisted by a Diocesan consultant, Stephen Mascoll, who met with the Vestry last year. This is a wonderful opportunity to help chart our course for the future. Please volunteer to help.
Participation by conference call is completely acceptable. If you would like to volunteer, please contact Dual Macintyre at

Flowers on Sunday
When we think about providing flowers for the altar for Sunday services, we traditionally think of giving them in memory of a loved one who has passed away, which is a beautiful way of honoring them.. But have you considered honoring a living loved one such as a graduating son, daughter or grandchild? Your own wedding anniversary or birthday, or that of a friend or relative? A neighbor’s baptism, confirmation, wedding? How about someone’s current achievement (good grades, sports feat, business success)? Please call Christine at the Parish House, 508-228-0916, to schedule your gift of flowers.

Looking for a good book!!!!!!
Please checkout St. Paul’s collections of books. They are located on the back stairs off of Gardner Hall. These books were not sold at the summer Fair and now are looking for a home. There isn’t another location for these book and our only other option is the dump. Take advantage of this opportunity to get a good read for the long winter days ahead.

Calendar of Upcoming Events
Sunday, Feb. 2 – The Presentation of our Lord Jesus Christ in the Temple: Candlemas
Sunday, St. Paul’s will celebrate this feast of our Lord, also known as Candlemas and the Feast of the Purification. It commemorates the presentation of Jesus and the purification of Mary in the Jerusalem Temple forty days after Jesus' birth, in accordance with the requirements of Jewish law. The feast is celebrated about forty days after Christmas. According to the account of Luke, the presentation of Jesus was also the occasion of the meeting of Jesus with Simeon and Anna. Simeon's prayer of blessing is the basis for the canticle
Nunc dimittis
. Celebration of the feast dates from the fourth century in Jerusalem. It was introduced in Rome in the seventh century, where it included a procession with candles and the singing of the
Nunc dimittis
. While it is customary for Christians in some countries to remove their Christmas decorations on Twelfth Night (Epiphany Eve), those in other Christian countries
historically remove them on Candlemas. On Candlemas, many Christians also bring their candles to their local church, where they are blessed and then used for the rest of the year. These blessed candles serve as a symbol of Jesus Christ, who referred to himself as the Light of the World.
Tuesday, February 25, Shrove Tuesday Pancake Supper, 5:30pm
On Shrove Tuesday, the day before Ash Wednesday and the beginning of Lent, St. Paul’s invites you to our traditional Shrove Tuesday Pancake Supper in Gardner Hall.
