This weekend we celebrate Pentecost, the great feast of the Holy Spirit’s arrival. Like a driving wind and tongues of fire, the Spirit bursts into the room where the apostles and Mary wait in prayer, transforming their fear into boldness and sending them out as courageous witnesses to the risen Christ.
Pentecost is often called the birthday of the Church—a joyful explosion of love, power, and unity that crosses all boundaries. St. Paul tells us the Spirit unites us in one Body, giving each of us unique gifts for the work of building up the Church and serving the world.
As Pope Leo XIV said to the college of Cardinals, “It is the Risen Lord, present among us, who protects and guides the Church, and continues to fill her with hope through the love ‘poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit who has been given to us’ (Rom 5:5).”
As we celebrate this feast, let us open our hearts to the Spirit’s fire, trusting that God’s presence empowers us to be witnesses “to the ends of the earth” (Acts 1:8), carrying Christ’s love into every corner.

The Bible Project Themes: The Holy Spirit
In this video, we explore the original meaning of the biblical concept of “spirit” and what it means that God’s Spirit is personally present in all of creation. Ultimately, the Spirit was revealed through Jesus and sent out into the lives of his followers to bring about the new creation.

The season of Pentecost celebrates the descent of the Holy Spirit upon the Apostles and the birth of the Church. But what does Pentecost mean for the Christian life? What does it mean for you and I personally?

So come down
Spirit, when You move You make my heart pound
When You fill the room
You're here and I know You are moving
I'm here and I know You will fill me
| | | | What a joy to have Fr. John De Guzman visit with us before he officially joins us as Parochial Vicar this summer. On Wednesday, Fr. John delivered a beautiful homily at the school Mass on the importance of "knowing Jesus," not just knowing about Jesus. After Mass Fr. John spent time chatting with parishioners and visiting with the students at the school. Fr. John will be a huge asset to further bolster the Catholic culture at St. Paul, and will do so with his characteristic thoughtfulness, youthfulness and enthusiasm! We are looking forward to welcoming him soon! | |
