Fifth Sunday of Easter

“There is only one thing to do here below: to love Jesus, to win souls for Him so that He may be loved.” – St. Thérèse of Lisieux

In his first homily, Pope Leo XIV emphasized the Church's Mission of evangelization. "This is the world entrusted to us, the world in which...we are called to witness to the joyful faith in Christ the Savior...It is essential to do so first and foremost in our personal relationship with Him, in our daily commitment to conversion. Then, to do so as a Church, experiencing together our fidelity to the Lord and bringing the Good News to all."

On this 5th Sunday of Easter, we are again reminded that the Christian life is about knowing Christ and revealing him to the world. In Acts 13, Paul and Barnabas boldly declare their mission: “I have made you a light to the Gentiles, that you may be an instrument of salvation to the ends of the earth.” In Sunday's reading, we see them living out that mission. Despite rejection and persecution, they do not waver because their mission is based in their love for the one who sent them! Like Paul and Barnabas, we too are called to a personal relationship with Jesus and to the mission of bringing the Good News to everyone!

Truth, Beauty, and Goodness

FORMED for Mission: The Great Commission

Dr. Ben Akers and Taylor Kemp sit down for a weekly show on evangelization and mission. “Evangelizing is in fact the grace and vocation proper to the Church, her deepest identity. She exists in order to evangelize” (Evangelii nuntiandi, 14). We pray that these discussions may help all the faithful be further conformed to Christ and become powerful evangelists in the world today.

Struggling to Share the Gospel? Here's What's Missing.

Every Christian is called to go into the world and make disciples. But how do we actually do this?

Today, Fr. Mike tells us that before we can live out the mission of the Church, one thing is needed: a personal relationship with Jesus and his Church. Without this relationship, our missionary efforts simply become another well-meaning chore or good deed. Our relationship with Christ gives our works meaning and purpose. It is vital, then, that our missionary identity be rooted in a personal relationship with Jesus and his Church.
