Feast of Saints Peter and Paul

This weekend we celebrate the Feast of Saints Peter and Paul, two pillars of the Church whose bold witness was rooted in personal encounters with Christ.

In our first reading, Paul says that God was "pleased to reveal his Son to me, so that I might proclaim him." Before he preached, he received. His mission flowed from a deep relationship with Jesus.

Peter, too, experiences ongoing conversion. In today’s Gospel, the risen Jesus asks him three times, “Do you love me?” — redeeming his denial, healing his heart, and then commissioning him: “Feed my sheep.” He could not lead until he had been loved and forgiven.

As we honor our patron, St. Paul, we’re reminded: we cannot share what we do not have. Evangelization begins with receiving — God's love, mercy, and truth — so we can then give it away.

This weekend we gather for Mass and our parish picnic, where God feeds us, physically and spiritually, so that like Peter and Paul, we may go forth and share what God has first given us.

Bulletin Advertisers Needed

Mark Fitzgerald from Diocesan (our bulletin publishing partner) is working to renew the advertisements currently running in the bulletin and to secure NEW bulletin advertisers. The bulletin is available in print and digitally online. We are grateful that this important communication piece is provided to our parish at no cost THANKS to the generous support of our bulletin sponsors.

Mark is calling the current sponsors so please let him know if we can count on your continued support by renewing your ad, and please call him if you’re interested in placing an advertisement in the bulletin on behalf of your business, family, favorite charity OR to memorialize a loved one. Bulletin sponsors recognize the tremendous value of connecting with our church family, and we ask our parishioners and guests to patronize our supporters when using a local service.

Seeking Compassionate Volunteers for Tobit Ministry

Our parish is seeking new volunteers to join the Tobit Ministry, a beautiful and compassionate outreach that supports families in their time of grief. Volunteers meet with family members to help them select appropriate Scripture readings, music, and other elements of the funeral liturgy. They also provide compassionate support, helping ensure the family feels the comfort of our parish community and the hope of Christ’s resurrection.

If you feel called to this ministry or would like to learn more, please contact Cynthia White at 252-638-1984 or cwhite@spccnb.org or stop by the parish office.

Called to Serve as an Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion?

Have you felt the Lord nudging your heart to share the Precious Body and Blood of Christ with others? It is a deeply humbling and beautiful experience to hold Him in your hands and offer Him to your brothers and sisters, just as He desires.

You may feel unworthy—but so did the first disciples. What matters is your faith in the Real Presence of Jesus in the Eucharist and your willingness to say yes to His call.

If you are at least 16 years old, in good standing with the Church, and ready to serve, we invite you to a training session on Saturday, June 28 at 8:45 a.m. in the church.

For questions or more information, contact Terry Anderson at tanderson@spccnb.org or 252-288-2680.

May God bless you as you prayerfully consider this vital ministry. 🙏

Truth, Beauty, and Goodness

The Bible Collection: Paul

Paul, originally known as Saul of Tarsus, was at the forefront of efforts to stamp out the early church until Jesus stopped him on the road to Damascus, forever changing his life and mission. He joyfully faced persecution, imprisonment, and peril in order to share the love and redemption offered by Christ. Beautifully shot in the Moroccan desert, Paul the Apostle is a sweeping saga of the man who brought the Gospel to the Western world.

The Good News and How to Tell It

If someone walked up to you and wanted to know “The Good News,” would you be able to tell them?

The Good News, or the Kerygma, is the summation of our faith as Christians. John 3:16, which speaks about God’s love for humanity, is a great example of this. But knowing The Good News isn’t enough: we have to know how to explain it to those we meet and do so in a way that invites them into our faith.

Today, Jackie and Bobby explain how to evangelize through spreading The Good News.

Communion

We are returning

To the place we've always belonged

Right here with You

Take me back to the garden

Lead me be back to moment I heard Your voice

Take me back to communion

Lead me back to the moment I saw Your face

Camp Hidden Lake

We’re so grateful to everyone who supports these life-changing trips for our teens.

Yes, there’s plenty of fun, games, and laughter — but what makes camp truly unforgettable is the powerful encounter with God that happens in prayer, worship, and the Sacraments.

Our teens return home renewed in faith, ready to live as disciples and share Christ’s love with their families, friends, and parish community.
