Mail and Parcel Delivery
You might be wondering how to receive mail and packages, or where your parents or supporters should send you "We miss you!" gifts — here's a handy guide for receiving mail in Residence!
| | |
How to pick up mail:

-
All student mail is delivered to centralized mail depots, not directly to individual residence buildings. All packages and mail will be delivered to the Watts Hall Mail Depot Desk for main campus residences, and Jean Royce Hall Front Desk for west campus residences.
- A personalized email notification from the Front Desk will inform you of your mail location and Parcel Code.
- Bring your Student ID Card and Parcel Code to the Front Desk to pick up your mail.

Safety in Residence & in the Kingston Community
At Queen's, we take pride in fostering a safe and inclusive environment where every student feels respected and valued. Our Residence community is not just a place to sleep; it's an opportunity to build meaningful connections and friendships that will last a lifetime. We believe in celebrating our differences and looking out for each other's safety and dignity, both on campus and in the wider Kingston community.
Please be aware that the City of Kingston's University District Safety Initiative is still in effect until September 7, and you could be fined up to $2000 for contravening local bylaws.
During this time, City By-Law Enforcement Officers and Kingston Police will have an increased presence in the University District.
Here are some key points to keep in mind:
| |
-
Respect Your Neighbours: Be mindful of the noise level in your residence and the surrounding area. Remember that not everyone has the same schedule, and respecting your neighbours' need for rest is crucial.
-
Party Responsibly: If you choose to host or attend gatherings or parties, be responsible. Keep the noise down, ensure guests are respectful, and follow all applicable rules and regulations.
-
Alcohol and Substance Use: Make responsible choices when it comes to alcohol and substance use. Know your limits, and never drink and drive. Support your friends in making safe choices.
-
Safety First: Always prioritize your personal safety and the safety of those around you. If you ever feel unsafe or need assistance, don't hesitate to reach out to Campus Security or Residence staff. Download the SeQure app to connect easily with emergency services on campus.
| | Let's work together to make our Residence and Kingston community a safe and welcoming place for everyone. By respecting one another, celebrating our differences, and abiding by local bylaws, we can ensure that your time at Queen's University is not only academically fulfilling but safe and memorable. | |
Closures of Breakwater Park and Gord Downie Pier
Gord Edgar Downie Pier and Breakwater Park beach will be closed to the public nightly, from 8 pm to 6 am, from the evening of August 28 to the morning of September 8.
This closure ensures the safety of community members in the University District, as large unsanctioned gatherings in this area pose a major safety risk, particularly at night.
Learn More from the City of Kingston.
| |
Download the SeQure App
The Queen’s University SeQure App is your one-stop access to campus safety and security information. SeQure features campus and local emergency response contacts, crisis alerts, Walk Home contact, Blue Light locations, support services, and much more.
By enabling "Push Notifications" you will receive important information regarding campus emergencies, as available.

Join the Residence Advisory Committee
The Residence Advisory Committee (RAC) is a forum to voice opinions and ideas to the Housing and Ancillary Services administration. RAC serves as a consultative group, advising on decisions directly affecting students in residence, promoting students' well-being, and is complementary to the attainment of academic excellence.
Input and feedback are welcome on various matters pertaining to housing services, student programming, resources, and departmental budget priorities.
If this sounds like something you would like to get involved with, please email edhouse@queensu.ca to express your interest.
