Turn Around, Don't Drown - Drive Safe this Monsoon Season

Monsoon storms in Arizona can come without much warning and are unpredictable. When our Pinal County Public Works Maintenance crews get called out, they determine which roads may be too dangerous to cross and place warning signs accordingly. It only takes as little as six inches of running water. When driving in a storm, please obey all signage, and remember- Turn Around, Don’t Drown. It’s not worth losing your vehicle or your life. County's Vector Control Program Monitors Mosquitoes & West Nile Virus Risk

Many Pinal County residents experienced their first Monsoon storm of the season this week. This is an important reminder to remove any standing water in your yard after a storm, as mosquitoes can lay eggs in as little as a 1/4 inch of water - that can be as simple as the size of a bottle cap!

In this video, Vector Control Program Lead Tami Schuler shows off the team's new facilities and talks about mosquito control within the county.

If you have concerns about standing water (abandoned swimming pools, for example), you can contact Environmental Health at 520-866-6200 or visit www.pinal.gov/ehs.
