-The Latest News-

Join Pastor Brooks for a Study of Isaiah Starting This Sunday at 8:30am | This Advent season, the book of Isaiah will be central to our lessons. Join Pastor Brooks for a 12-week study exploring Isaiah’s themes of God’s care for Judah and Jerusalem, holiness and life with God, the promised Deliverer, and the new heaven and earth. The class will also draw from Martin Luther’s commentary, highlighting what it means to have a conscience formed by God’s Word and faith in Christ.

The Care of Baptized Children This Sunday | Join us in celebrating our 6-year-olds this Sunday as they receive their Beginner’s Bibles. Please keep Nate de Talence and Tatum Stuhlmiller and their families in prayer.

Begin Your Discipleship Pathway Journey This Sunday:

Step 1: Ignite Your Faith

The Discipleship Board is excited to introduce the “Discipleship Pathway” at Grace—a journey of following Jesus, growing in faith, and an intentional effort to live according to His teachings. This pathway involves building blocks for you to grow and strengthen your relationships with God, your family, and your community.

This Sunday, we’ll launch the pathway with its first step, “Seeking Christ,” through the offering of Ignite Your Faith Starter Kits. This self-paced course is intended for anyone new to-or finding their way back to-Christianity.

We invite you to stop by our new Welcome Center located in the Narthex to find out more and see what’s included in the Ignite Your Faith Starter Kit. Materials for future steps will be available coming up.

Church Cookout Next Sunday | Join us next Sunday, September 28, for a cookout celebrating the Grace Farmers Market season! We’ll serve burgers and hot dogs, and you’re welcome to bring a side or dessert—sign up on the bulletin board by the water fountain or contact Deaconess Anna (dco.anna.voelker@gracedurham.org). Farmers Market volunteers, just bring your appetite—we’re grateful for your hard work! Please note: there will be no parking at the Grace House lot that day. If you need assistance with accessible parking, please contact the church office.

New Outdoor Signage | One of the goals from the Go & Make Capital Campaign was to replace our outdoor signs. After a lengthy process, the City of Durham has issued the necessary permits to move forward. Production of the signs on the corner of Green & Buchanan for the parking lot (on Buchanan) and entrance (on Green Street) and a coordinating marker for the Grace House will begin soon. Estimated time until delivery is 6-8 weeks.

Ministry of the Month: Altar Guild | This month, we continue to highlight the ministry of our Altar Guild. As one member shares their story:

“Someone asked me—and when I said yes, I discovered how meaningful it was. I've served for many years, and each season has brought new depth. The time spent in the sanctuary, often in silence, has become a space for my own prayer life to grow.”

If you would like to learn more or feel called to join this ministry, please reach out to the church office or one of the Altar Guild members, listed on the bulletin board outside of the Fellowship Hall restrooms.
