-The Latest News-

Commissioning & Installation of Deaconess Anna Voelker | Join us this Sunday, September 14, as we celebrate a very special milestone in the life of our congregation. During worship, we will join together in the Commissioning and Installation of Deaconess Anna Voelker, Director of Christian Outreach. Following the service, everyone is invited to a reception in the Fellowship Hall. Please come and share in this joyful occasion as we welcome and celebrate Anna’s ministry at Grace.

Church Directory Photos | As part of our celebration for Deaconess Anna’s Commissioning and Installation, we’ll also be updating our Church Directory! Kristen Poppe will be taking photos of members during the reception as a special gift for Anna—helping her put faces to names as she gets to know our Grace family. Come dressed in your Sunday best, or simply however you’d like to be photographed. Stop by during the reception, and Kristen will be glad to capture your photo.

Join Pastor Brooks for a Study of Isaiah Starting Sunday, September 21 at 8:30am | The book of Isaiah will be featured as a part of the Advent season's lessons this year. Get a head start on the powerful message of this important prophet by joining Pastor Brooks for a study of the themes of Isaiah. Over the 12 weeks leading up to Advent this December, we will look at how Isaiah sees God's care and provision for Judah and Jerusalem, the nature of holiness and life with God, the coming of the promised Deliverer, and the new heaven and earth. The class will also bring in portions of Martin Luther's commentary on Isaiah, particularly as Luther addresses what it means to have a conscience formed by God's Word and faith in Christ.

Church Cookout September 28 | All are invited to come and celebrate a successful season of the Grace Farmers Market with a special cookout Sunday, September 28! We'll have the grill going with burgers and hot dogs, and if you would like to share a side or dessert that Sunday, you can either sign up on the bulletin board above the water fountains or contact Deaconess Anna at dco.anna.voelker@gracedurham.org. Grace Farmers Market volunteers, this is for you. Don't worry about bringing anything other than your appetite. We are so grateful for all the hard work you've put in this season.

Wednesdays at One Update |  We regret to share that our previously scheduled September Wednesdays at One gathering has been canceled. But there's good news! We’re excited to share that we’ve asked the Department of Health & Human Services, Division of Aging to send a Digital Navigator as our next speaker. Digital Navigators are wonderful guides who help older adults feel more comfortable and confident with technology. We hope to welcome one next month—more details soon!
