A Direct Line: Lucky for you, celebrating International Credit Union Day happens every year, and much like picking a Halloween costume, it's never too early to start planning for the next celebration. FROM OUR PARTNERS

Understanding Phishing and Cyber Extortion: In our increasingly digital world, cyber threats have become more sophisticated, targeting individuals and technology. Phishing and cyber extortion are some of the most common tactics cybercriminals use to steal sensitive information or demand money. Learning to recognize these threats is essential for protecting personal and financial data and ensuring the safety of your employees and your credit union. Check out this recent article from Velera (formerly PSCU/Co-op Solutions) to help quickly identify phishing attempts and spot the signs of cyber extortion to stay secure.

Webinar Registration Options: Did you know that each webinar hosted by our partner CU Webinar Network includes unlimited connections for your credit union, a take-away toolkit, the ability to view on multiple devices, and the presenter’s contact information for questions? How to Thrive in '25: We are officially in the last quarter of the year, and it's time for credit unions to solidify their game plan for 2025. There's a lot to navigate between evolving macroeconomic conditions, consumer behaviors, a new incoming presidential administration, and an overwhelming amount of AI innovation. With the right tools and insights, credit unions can stay ahead of the game and make the next 6-12 months successful. Register to join Adam Kleinman, Head of Product and Strategy at Zest AI for a live webinar on November 7 at 12:30 p.m. (MDT) to learn the 2025 lending forecast, AI hype versus reality, and more. You will receive a recording if you cannot make the webinar.

THE #CUDIFFERENCE

The Park Side Charitable Foundation has had a busy October! They recently awarded $7,500 to three local nonprofits in Missoula and the Flathead Valley (pictured here from left to right; click for a larger copy):

These local nonprofits each received $2,500 to help them advance their missions of continuing to serve their communities. That's the #CUDifference!

PARTING SHOT

Meet Donya podcast episode

Welcome to Week Three of our MCU “Meet the Staff” podcast series. This week’s podcast features Donya.

Here's an introduction: Donya Parrish has been at MCU supporting credit unions across Montana since 2002 and has earned both her Credit Union Development Educator (CUDE) and Bank Secrecy Act Compliance Specialist (BSACS) designations. She focuses on training and assisting credit union staff and boards on compliance, fraud, and regulatory issues as well as producing relevant resources to assist in their daily compliance efforts. As the author of the weekly A Direct Line blog for credit union board and supervisory committee members, she actively searches for resources to support credit union volunteers in their roles. She also coordinates the compliance officer, fraud, internal audit and lending peer communities, and the TruStage relationship.

Here’s what I really appreciate about Donya. She is truly an expert in her field of compliance and credit unions, and she is a trusted resource across the state and the country. She commits to traveling around the state and meeting with our credit unions a couple of times a year. She also shares her learning with the rest of the team and helps us think of new ways to serve our credit unions. She is currently leading our collaboration initiative to explore solutions to common credit union challenges. Reach out and thank Donya for her service to Montana’s Credit Unions and her commitment to each of you!
