Dear Friends and Neighbors,
I am proud to announce that a total of 62 fully operational weapons were taken off the streets of Queens County during our most recent gun buyback event, held in partnership with the New York City Police Department and Assembly Member Jenifer Rajkumar.

The event was co-sponsored by the Police Foundation, State Attorney General Letitia James, Assembly Member David Weprin, and Food Bazaar Supermarket. I thank each of them, in addition to our community partners and faith-based leaders, for their unwavering commitment to public safety.

Every effort that we make against the proliferation of gun violence makes an impact. As District Attorney, I am committed to investigating and prosecuting drivers of violence while exploring diversion programs to help end the cycle of crime plaguing some of our most marginalized neighborhoods.

However, it is just as important to work together on meaningful solutions before gun violence occurs. Each of the 62 guns recovered recently represents a potential life saved and a potential tragedy averted.

I will continue to work with the people I serve and represent on holistic approaches to public safety.
In Friendship,

Melinda Katz
Queens District Attorney

Remembrance Day for Murder Victims
Obtaining justice for victims and their loved ones remains at the heart and center of our work.

On National Remembrance Day for Murder Victims, we paid tribute to everyone who has suffered a great tragedy, and stood shoulder to shoulder with our law enforcement partners, victim service agencies, and community members in honoring those we've lost.

I'd like to thank Ms. Carolyn Dixon of Where Do We Go From Here Inc. for co-hosting our tribute ceremony.
Information Wanted
As part of our regular call for help, we are asking for any information regarding the 1999 murder of Antonia Stassi, found stabbed to death in Astoria.

Help us bring justice on behalf of the victim and her loved ones. If you have any details to report, I urge you to contact NYPD Crimestoppers. All tips are confidential and can be submitted anonymously!
Breakfast With Our Local Business Owners
Small businesses steer the engine of our progress and city-wide economy. Ensuring the safety of our local owners and their employees is one of the top priorities for my administration.

That is why I hosted the Queens Chamber of Commerce for a breakfast with business owners across the borough to address concerns related to general crime rates, retail theft, and cyber crime.

I want to extend my gratitude towards Tom Grech and all members and staff of the Queens Chamber of Commerce for partnering with my office for this special program.
"Your Golden Years" Open Air Concert
Our senior citizens deserve all the appreciation for doing so much to strengthen our communities.

It was a great time speaking to our seniors during a recent Open Air Concert in Roy Wilkins Park, hosted by NYC City Council Speaker Adrienne Adams in honor of Senior Appreciation Month.
Senior Appreciation Day
Following the Concert, my Office joined local leaders and seniors at the Glow Community Center NYC in Flushing for a Senior Appreciation Day, organized by State Senator John Liu.

Our senior citizens have paved the way for generations of community members and leaders. I hope they've taken full advantage of the various activities provided all month long.
