August 9, 2024

Dear Friends and Neighbors,

The spirit of Queens communities shined brightly this week during National Night Out (NNO) Against Crime.

This annual summer celebration, observed on the first Tuesday in August across the country, fosters invaluable relationships between our communities and members of law enforcement.

My office was actively represented at every precinct location throughout the borough, and we distributed essential crime prevention information for residents.

This annual event is an important reminder that we must all be vigilant in the fight against crime. It is also a great opportunity for the people who live in our neighborhoods to interact with police officers in a positive way.

Together, we are not just building trust; we are cultivating a safer, more inclusive environment for all.

My top priority will always be keeping you and your loved ones safe.

In Friendship,

Melinda Katz

Queens District Attorney

Brave Justice Internship Farewell

I want to congratulate our Brave Justice interns on successfully completing an intensive nine-week internship with the Queens District Attorney's Office!

This journey was an incredible opportunity for them to delve into the vital role of a prosecutor and gain a comprehensive understanding of our office's mission and values.

We hope that the insights and skills they acquired will serve as a strong foundation toward a future legal career, inspiring a positive impact in our community and beyond.

QDA Summer Leadership Program

While we bade farewell to our law school and college interns, we were glad to welcome a new group of high school interns to the office.

The Summer Leadership Internship provides an opportunity for students to explore different career pathways, develop workplace skills, and learn about the law enforcement field.

As part of the program, students will work on a project to create a Public Service Announcement on important topics relevant to them, helping to raise awareness and promote justice. We look forward to seeing their work!

Harmony Picnic at Roy Wilkins Park

NYPD's Patrol Borough Queens South recently hosted its annual Harmony Picnic at Roy Wilkins Park.

Members of my Community Partnerships team were glad to attend and provide important information about bullying prevention and personal safety to young children and families.
