Main Street to Washington:
Avoid Massive Tax Increase
Over 500 state and local chambers of commerce and national trade associations—representing every sector of the U.S. economy and all 50 states—are urging the next Congress and administration to prevent a significant tax increase that could impact American families and businesses.
Why it matters: When tax policies support growth, they create more opportunities for everyone—more jobs, increased investment, and stronger communities.
How we got here: In 2017, pro-growth tax reforms were enacted to invigorate our economy, bringing significant benefits to families and local businesses nationwide. These changes sparked new companies, fueled pay raises for workers, and opened job opportunities as employers reinvested in their communities.
Be smart: Without decisive action from the next Congress and administration, many of the pro-growth tax reforms enacted in 2017 will automatically vanish at the end of next year.

Businesses might face increased taxes, leading to potential job cuts, reduced wages, or even closures.

Families could experience decreased take-home pay, making it challenging to manage everyday expenses like groceries, childcare, and gas.

Communities may suffer as local businesses, the backbone of our towns and cities, struggle to survive, resulting in fewer jobs and less investment in local services.
Big picture: This summer, the U.S. Chamber launched the Growth and Opportunity Imperative for America, calling on members of Congress and candidates to focus on reaching the goal of at least 3% annual real economic growth.

The Chamber's Armed Forces Committee is pleased to announce its 22nd Annual Salute to the U.S. Armed Forces on Guam. This event will be scheduled for Thursday, October 17, 2024, from 5:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m., to be held at the LeoPalace Resort Guam.
The Annual Salute event serves as an extension of appreciation for what the men and women of America’s Armed Forces do each day to protect and maintain our freedom. Event highlights include local entertainment, great eats, and wonderful company. Please join us!

September General Membership Meeting featuring John Benavente and Toys for Tots Kick-Off
Your Guam Chamber of Commerce General Membership Meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, September 25, 2024, at the Micronesian Ballroom, Hilton Guam Resort & Spa. This month's meeting will feature Mr. John Benavente, General Manager of the Guam Power Authority.
Additionally, the meeting will kick off the 2024 Toys for Tots campaign. Members and guests are encouraged to bring a new and unwrapped toy or gift item to the meeting. This annual toy collection program provides a toy or gift item to a child (ages 0 – 17) in need at Christmas. The Chamber is pleased to partner with the Marine Corps Base Camp Blaz on this most worthy program. Companies interested in participating as a drop-off site for toys are encouraged to contact the Chamber office for details.

In partnership with Marine Corps Base Camp Blaz, the Armed Forces Committee is excited to launch this year's Toys for Tots campaign at the official kick-off on Wednesday, September 25th! As we do each year, we ask our members to bring a new and unwrapped toy to our General Membership Meeting at the Hilton Guam Resort & Spa for the September 25th General Membership Meeting.

Ivy Educational Services General Education Development (GED) Fall 2024 open enrollment is now open! This GED preparation course spans 10 weeks. The first week focuses on the orientation
and diagnostic test. The next eight weeks focus on instruction. The last week focuses on the post-test and conferences between students and instructors. The curriculum covers GED’s 4 subjects (mathematical reasoning, reasoning through language arts, social studies, and science). The course is designed to assist students in improving knowledge and skills through direct instruction, reading, discussion, and practice.
