NOTES AND REMINDERS
While spring in Indiana leads to many lovely things, rainfall brings the potential for clogged storm drains. Please do your part by clearing out storm drains in front of your home and removing excess leaves, tree branches, and trash. The drains are not cleared by the OA or the City of Carmel. Your efforts are appreciated.

As you start your landscaping efforts for the coming season - mulching, addressing turf needs, evaluating trees - please let the OA office know if you need some advice or help assessing your needs and next steps. We'll be happy to take a look at your landscaping and offer some tips. Here's one to start with - If you haven't done your first application of pre-emergent, it's time to do so!

It's a busy time for spring home improvement projects. We appreciate that so many of our homeowners are making plans to paint, make landscaping improvements, etc. Remember to submit your plans to the Architectural Review Board and allow up to two weeks for approval. Questions? Contact the OA office and we’ll be happy to guide you through the process.
As these home improvement and repair projects begin, we ask that you remove any contractor or landscaper signage.

Our pool management company, C & N Pools, is hiring lifeguards for this summer. Know someone looking for a fun, flexible job? They can apply to be a lifeguard here in the Village!
For more information and to express interest, please email [email protected].

Love to read? Look forward to discussing your favorite books? We are looking for a volunteer or volunteers to help organize the Village Book Club. Please email [email protected] in the OA office if this piques your interest. Our thanks to Denise Friermood for her many years of leadership of the Book Club!
We ask that you look at your mailbox with a critical eye. Does it lean? Does it have rust or peeling paint? Is the lettering coming off or looking shabby? And if your mailbox or yard light globe are more than 10 years old, they are likely original and in need of replacement. Otto's Streetscape Solutions is offering a week of special pricing, April 19-23. You can find prices and details HERE.
This year's swim team season will run from June 1-July 9. Registration is now open. Spots will fill on a first-come, first-served basis and are open to
residents only through May 5. Resident early bird rates are $125 per swimmer.
On May 5, regular rates of $175 will apply and open registration will begin. For more details and to get your swimmers registered, please visit our website. Be a part of the fun and ride the Vortex!
The Joyce Winner West Branch of the Carmel Library has reopened for in-person visits! Curbside pick-up also remains available. Important - please use caution when biking! We are very concerned about the unsafe biking practices in the Village. It is imperative that bikers follow traffic rules, just like drivers. We need those biking, driving, and walking all to be respectful of laws and safety practices. If you're a little rusty on biking safety, check out this website for some important rules, tips, and recommendations. Parents, please talk to your children about bicycle safety and model good behavior. We can all do our part to keep everyone in the Village safe!

VILLAGE REMINDERS and RESOURCES
Security: If you have an alarm system, set it, even if you are only going to be gone for a short time. Make sure your yard light is working; let your neighbors know if their yard light is out.

Be a Safe Driver: Many cars driving through the Village use excessive speed and disregard stop signs. This is obviously extremely unsafe. Many of us are out and about walking, biking, with strollers, etc. Remember, our alleys our NOT to be used as through streets - this is dangerous and unnecessary.

Use Caution as a Pedestrian or Biker: Safety rules also apply when walking or riding our bikes. Please use the sidewalks rather than walking 3-4 wide in the streets. Dogs must be on leashes. Yield right of way to pedestrians. Parents, please supervise your children and encourage them to use caution!

Unpredictable and Extreme Weather: The Indiana Department of Homeland Security website has extensive information on severe weather preparedness.

Trash Toters: Are required to be stored out of sight on non trash pick-up days. We ask that if all possible you wait to put out your trash toters until the morning of your trash pick-up.

Architectural Review Board: Any changes to your home's exterior, including landscaping changes, must be approved. Provide as much detail as possible and allow at least two weeks for submissions to go through the review process before you schedule work to be done. Contact the OA office with any questions about the process.

If you are installing a fence, you will also need to secure permits from City of Carmel, (317) 571-2444 and the County Drainage Board, (317) 776-9627.

Dog Owners: You must keep your dog on a leash. Not doing so is against our covenants and the law and is inconsiderate. If you have bags of dog waste around your home's exterior, please store discreetly in a container.

Village of WestClay Living Monthly Magazine: If you have news for the Village of WestClay Living Magazine or if you missed your issue, please contact N2 Publishing, (317) 714-4361, [email protected].

Recycling: You'll find helpful recycling information from Republic HERE.

Signage: Please remove any exterior signage that has not been approved by the Architectural Review Board. This includes contractor, landscaper, or special messaging signage
