Caring Continues

Parish Care Prayer

O God, give each one of us the strength to look up and not down; to look forward and not back; to look out and not in; and to lend a hand. We ask in Jesus’ name. Amen.

Dear friends,

At a recent Parish Care Team meeting, folks suggested that I write a piece to let everyone know about the great work your Parish Care Team is doing! Happily, I had written a similar message in June, and simply am sharing it again as the wonderful caring in this community continues! Thank you to all who participate in welcome, care, and love to each other and our neighbors. This ministry is never done, but is a constant, living expression of God's love for each of us; offered through your hands and feet and prayers.

As people of faith, we are called to care for one another. Our care for other people, for ourselves, and for the earth are reflections of God’s care for us. When we care for each other and for our neighbors, we are reflecting God’s love for the created order, and for each one of us.

Help our neighbors in Maui

Devastating fires in Hawai'i this week have burned one Episcopal Church to the ground (Holy Innocents in Lahaina); displaced thousands of people who lost homes and businesses; and injured and killed many. Rev. Nancy has been in touch with a friend who serves as Priest in Charge at St. John's church in Kula on Maui to see how we at Trinity can help them as they work with the greater Maui community to deal with this disaster.

  • A Cup of Cold Water (ACCW) is a non-profit organized by the Episcopal churches on Maui. Fr. George Wong (Nancy's friend) wrote "ACCW is very lean...no overhead as it is staffed with all volunteers so the funding goes right to folks on the street . I went out distributing food and clothing today in fact." If you would like to help, please send a check to Trinity marked "Maui" in the memo line. We will collect the donated funds and send a gift from Trinity Concord.

O God, our refuge and strength,

our help in times of trouble.

Have mercy on the lands

damaged by fires.

Have mercy on the lands

where the weather has destroyed livelihoods.

Protect those who evacuate houses,

and strengthen those who rebuild hope

so that entire communities

may face the future without fear. Amen.

Handbells

Trinity's Handbell Choir. led by Juanita Healy, is looking for new members to continue our music ministry.  This is not a women’s only group. Musical knowledge is welcome, however we will teach what you need. Since each member is responsible for their selected bells, regular attendance is important. Currently, we rehearse on Thursdays from 6:30 – 7:30pm. Rehearsals will start mid-September. Please contact Juanita at [email protected] for more information or to join in.

Volunteers Needed for Gala

The Gala will be about Fun, Fellowship, Food and Fundraising! But we need some help for the evening to run smoothly. Please review the available volunteer roles on the attached SignUpGenius and click on the areas where you would like to help. Thank you!

If you have additional questions, please contact Holly Steward, Larry Barney or David Tocki.
