The big event in April is Easter which cannot be overshadowed even by Coachella. That’s the day according to the Gospels, the 4 books of the Bible, written a hundred years after the reported death of Jesus, by four sketchy guys who claimed Jesus rose from the dead after reading it somewhere. I always liked Easter as a kid, a new dress and ham are hard to resist. Once I had an Easter egg hunt for my daughter and the kids couldn’t find the damn eggs and they all started crying. I went and found all the eggs and cracked them on their heads. That made them cry more.
However, to get to the point, I have some questions about the Easter story. When Jesus was crucified, he was a dark skinned Arab looking guy but when he was resurrected, he was “ole blue eyes.” Is this the same guy? This guy is white. Jesus wasn’t white except in Megyn Kelly’s dreams. I’m not sure that was Jesus. There’s another part of the story that bothers me, the part where the Jews did it. Since when did anyone listen to the Jews. They couldn’t even get the Romans to stop calling them the K word. He was much more feasible that Jesus was shot in the back by the cops because of some Karen and that’s why when he came back, he decided to pass for white if it was really him.

April is also known for other things:
Martin Luther King, Jr. wrote, A Letter from a Birmingham Jail, in April of 1963. Gave his last speech, I’ve Been to the Mountaintop on April 3 of 1968 and was shot dead the next day on April 4 in Memphis. Malcolm X also wrote his most famous speech, Ballot or the Bullet, in April, 4 years earlier.
In April 3, 1888 the Supreme Court rules that political parties were not private clubs and had to let Blacks vote in the Democratic Primary in Texas. That must have been a hard call. Didn’t matter the decision was overruled by the Klan shortly after that.

There were some very cool women born in April:
The singers, Ella Fitzgerald, Billie Holiday, Alberta Hunter and Ma Rainey. Marian Anderson sang at the Lincoln Memorial in April after being snubbed by mean ole white ladies.

Also, it’s a birthday month for the activists:
|
|
Dolores Huerta, co-founder of the United Farm Workers Union, Johnnie Tilmon, founder of the National Welfare Rights organization and that civil rights giant, Ella Baker. April 22 is Earth Day to recognize the work of Rachel Carson.
