Hello,
Happy New Year!
Happy hardly seems an appropriate word under the circumstances but we push on hoping for the best. Looking back on 2021 here are some of the things, not that they were the most important, but for no particular reason stuck in my mind:
What I loved most about bell hooks, who recently passed away was she didn’t care who she offended. The best moment may have been calling Beyonce and other wealthy Black entertainers economic terrorist for not spending more of their money to impact poverty. That went over like a rat at a cocktail party.
The new bi-racial doll irks me for some reason that has nothing to do with bi-racial people. It has more to do with a system that seems to want to elevate them into a new class that is less than white but better than black. Can’t we just leave the Coloreds in Cape Town.
The new West Side Story turned out to be a total bust just like the 50’s. An inter-racial love story with singing and dancing set during a time when segregation ruled and anyone who thought that was a bad idea was branded a commie. If only we could dance that away.
January 6th. At first, I thought the Indianapolis 500 was being held at the Capitol until I noticed there were no cars just fans. It’s too bad you can’t OD on Budweiser.
Hope to see you soon...Gail
