When Katrina, Crystal, and I began planning what Anasa would become, we asked for help. We had a vision of what our space might look like. But we needed help expressing it as a "brand". So, we brought an expert onto the team, Sharee Robinson of My Groove Design. Sharee guided us in developing our logo, our mission statement, and our tagline - Yoga. Health. Community.

Yoga.Health.Community. summarizes our commitment to bringing yoga and wellness practices to YOU. As you check out this month's Mindful Studio Magazine cover story celebrating Anasa's diversity, notice that diversity includes our wide range of classes and workshops. Many of which you've suggested and requested since we opened almost 6 years ago. I've witnessed a lot of healing during this time. I've had the privilege of hearing your stories and seeing the transformations. This mind-body work is truly connecting us spiritually - as healthier individuals, and as a healthier community.

I'm proud of the Teachers at Anasa.  They are so passionate and so skilled.  It's their variety of expertise that shapes the foundation of the studio. We now offer Vinyasa, Hatha, Restorative, Prenatal, Anusara, Kundalini, and Y12SR Yoga classes. Plus Nia┬«, Feldenkrais┬«, Meditation, Dance, and Reiki! We cultivate an atmosphere of community by scheduling these classes 30 minutes apart, allowing space for students and teachers to connect. And we strive to be a fragrance-free zone in respect for those with allergies and environmental sensitivities.

While planning for our special events and weekend workshops, I always ask myself if the topic fits within our tagline.  How will it benefit the students seeking to do their inner work?  How will it bring community together to heal and grow, to learn more about the ancient practices of yoga, or to just have fun? Hopefully your needs will be fulfilled through one or more of our holistic-based offerings described below!

Please pre-register for events at AnasaOakland.com to take advantage of EARLY BIRD PRICING and help us plan in advance.

May the transition into the shorter days of fall bring us opportunities to slow down and see the light within.

Peace & Blessings to All,

Jean Marie

Yoga of 12-Step Recovery (Y12SR)
Monthly on the 2nd Sunday
Oct. 13, 7:00 - 8:30pm

Modeled on the meetings of 12-step programs, The Yoga of 12-Step Recovery (Y12SR) is a donation-based 45-minute group sharing circle followed by a 45-minute all-levels yoga class. Y12SR is for anyone working with any addictive pattern, or affected by the addictive patterns in others.
Y12SR was founded by Nikki Myers in 2004 and combines the practical tools of the 12-Step program with the ancient wisdom of yoga. Combining the two creates a holistic model that truly addresses addiction as a dis-ease impacting the whole person - physical, mental & spiritual - as well as relapse prevention.

The suffering stops at Anasa!
Please help us create a fragrance-free zone.

Do you know that many of the common scented products that people use are making people sick? Very sick.  Even "natural" scents found in essential oils can be problematic.  Products with fragrance contain unknown chemicals that trigger headaches, migraines, sinus and respiratory distress, skin reactions, and nausea.  Medical research is looking at what's causing these reactions.  And as one who is sensitive to fragrance, I can tell you that the suffering is real.  It can last hours or even days after the exposure!  Learn more about the movement for fragrance-free public spaces  here in an article that Liz Raven shared with us.
