Safety Spotlight: Fall Protection & Ladder Safety
Prepared by MCASF Safety Committee Member Scott Watson, Smart Air Systems
Fall Protection tips:
Learn the proper fit and way to put on a harness and lanyard, as well as checking for wear and inoperable buckles and straps.
Keep the work area clear of tripping hazards and watch for open holes.
Guard rails or harnesses with lanyards and anchorage point are required within 10" of leading edge.
Ladder Safety tips:
Use the proper ladder for the task you are performing.
Prior to use, inspect ladders and ensure proper set up, including securing extension ladders.
Always maintain a three-point contact with ladders. Never use top step of any ladder and don't overreach.
