Dear Parents:
With children home from school and work schedules disrupted for many parents, the COVID-19 pandemic is creating a variety of unexpected circumstances for families.

To help families that may be struggling during these challenging times, the Missouri Department of Social Services offers assistance with food stamps, health care, child care and other needs.

If your family’s financial situation has changed recently, you may be eligible to receive support . Eligibility for these programs is often based on whether a family qualifies for free or reduced price meals at school. Completing the Free or Reduced Price Meal Application now will help with the process of obtaining benefits offered by the Department of Social Services. It will also determine whether your child will be eligible to receive free or reduced price meals when they return to school.

As a reminder, Springfield Public Schools also offers free breakfast and lunch to any child age 18 and under . F amilies may pick up free meals Monday-Friday from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the school closest to them. Find out more.

Note: Printed copies of the Free or Reduced Price Meal application will soon be made available for pick-up in the carline at each SPS school, between 9:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. If you choose to fill out the paper copy, you may return it to school by carline at your convenience.
